so i just got back from checking out my soon to be new bike, an 01 F4i,  love everything about the bike except that the owner said that there is no trunk.  is this correct? i thought that the split seat F4i's did have a small one or am i mistaken?  thanks

The rear seat is removable with the key. The lock is located near the upper left of the license plate. The "trunk" is under the rear seat. If the previous owner installed an aftermarket undertail, that might have cut down on the available space, but hopefully he relocated the lock so you still have access.

Well I wouldn't call it a trunk, but the rear seat does pop off and you can store little things in there like the toolkit (there's a lock on the left of the licence plate bracket that unlocks the latch holding the seat down).

No one told you not to wear a backpack for more storage....

Badfish, I have an 01 F4i with an after market tail...This think has been shaved to the point the tail forms the trunk.  Once I pop to seat there's nothing but fiberglass and sub frame....I kinda like it.  I can fit a tool kit, brush, 2 t-shirts, camera and contact lens solution (large bottle) all at the same time.  I haven't had anything fall out, but I know the possiblity is there. And yes I can still lock my lid.  The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
