01 Fuel pump problem?

Hi guys,
I figure yall have more knowledge than me. I have had my bike stored for a while, fuel tank dry. I replaced the battery and when I turn the key I dont hear the fuel pump cycling like it used to. Of course the bike will not start. Is there anything that I should check before I throw a new pump into it.

i dont know how to do it but in a car there is a way to check to make sure your fuel pump is pressurizing the system.
