Here are the details on this bike:

03 HONDA CBR600RR
Blk w/silver ground effect. Under 1900 mi, hardly ridden. Well maint & never dropped or beat on, looks & runs exc. $5700

I was thinking about asking him to let it go for $5000. Is that unreasonable?

The kelly blue book for retail is $6070 and trade in is $4190. I $5000 if reasonable, it' right in the middle. MSRP is $9000.... a lot of people here will tell you they walked out of the dealership for $7000 and less. I'd have to take a gun with me to get that price. So you have to consider what the shops sell them for in your area, but I'd offered 5k.

I think I'm going to use your reasoning for my negotiations. I just contacted him and he'll hopefully be sending me pics soon. I will then hopefully go check it out this weekend sometime or even this week if he's around. And since its only under 2000 miles, should I still bring it to a dealership to be checked out or should I be ok if there's no scratches and stuff? I want to make this a smooth transaction but also a quick one.

If you have the option and he's willing, take it to a garage to have it checked out if you don't know what to look for. Don't rely on lack of scratches to let you know if it's been down. Too easy to swap out the plastic and hide frame damage.

A good idea is to take along a friend that will try and talk you out of it, sometimes when your looking for a bike you can be that excited that you miss a few bits. A garage check would be perfect though.

My bro will most likely come with me if I do end up going to check out the bike. And if I see any scratches, I will request that we take the bike to a dealership to check out the bike. I'll tell the seller that if I don't purchase the bike, I'll pay for the dealership fee, but if I end up purchasing it, he should pay for it or at least split the cost.

My bro and I are about to go check out a bike for him today. He's going to look at a 03 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R for $5000.

Humm I got my 03 600RR just a couple months ago with 4300 miles on it.... it was perfect, all stock. I ended up buying it for $5400 and he wanted $5700 for it. I got a good deal...... I think! =o)

Good luck, sounds like a nice bike.

Well, this is a private party sale not a dealership sale, so there would be no taxes. It would basically be $5700 OTD, but I'm going to try to lower that to $5000 or as close to $5000 as possible. The guy is going to send me pictures tomorrow so if everything looks good, I'll set up a time to take a look at the bike. I really hope this works out as I'm itchin' to upgrade, even though I've only had my 93 Ninja EX500 for a little over a month now. My bro is most likely going to be picking up a Ninja ZX6R so I'll want to upgrade soon as well. Might as well purchase a bike now instead of waiting until Spring when the prices go up.

you'll still have to pay taxes when you register the bike in your name.

I tried to find the thread with the guy stating he paid $6800 for his, but I had no luck. This is as close as I got, Frankie found Ritchie Powersports in Tenn. $7077 OTD price.

i own a 04 600 RR and it listed 8599 new. i ended up paying like 8300 instead, but then they soaked me for a 4 year extended warranty.
i still owe like 7400 on the friggin thing.lowest i would take would prolly be around 6700,but then again id kick myself in the a**.i love my RR to much to even think about it.$5700 for a bike thats not even or just getting broke in doesnt sound like a bad deal.looks like he needs the money

I'm supposed to get some pics today and if everything looks good, I'm going to offer $5000 for it. And then go take a look in person. We'll see what he says. If not, I may take another look at a 1999 Yamaha R6 with just over 8,000 miles that I could of taken for $3800 w/ helmet. I may ask him to lower it closer to $3000. We'll see...

The kid still hasn't sent me pics, so I'm going to give him a call during my lunch break. The kid lives in Massachusetts so if you're around that area and I don't end up buying the bike, I'll definitely let you know.

No joke I'm looking for an rr and am about to pay 6500 for an 04 w/extended warranty through 09 w/3000 miles on it in AR.... there are only like 3 for sale in the state and for no less than 6200. If you get the yamy let me know where to pick the rr up at...I'd buy it right now.

The damn kid supposedly had a friend scan pics of it for me, but I have yet to get an email with the pics. I even emailed him again to make sure that he had my email address. I know he's selling it for $5700 because he actually paid to advertise on the Want Ads. I'm actually now looking at getting a 02 f4i instead for $3999 and 5400 miles. Not a bad deal huh?

I'm thinking this will be better for me since it'll be $1700 less. I can wait to get a really nice bike in the future. Right now, this is what I may be getting:

2002 Honda CBR 600 F4i

only 5600 miles
oil changed every 1000 miles
yellow and black
garage kept and never dropped
tinted windscreen
frame sliders
two brothers exhuast
fender eliminator kit
targa solo seat cowel (also include yellow passenger seat)
PIAA 7300k ultra bright bulbs
tires in good shape
quick acceleration kit
racing chain
flush mount turn signals

Selling the bike because its time to upgrade to something bigger. The f4i is fuel injected and I think one of the nicer looking and sounding F4i's out there. I have the title in hand (clean title), no lien on the bike. Bike is in mint shape and looking for its next soul mate.

Oh this also comes with a matching Icon Motorhead Leather Jacket that retails for $349 and he bought it a few months ago.

As much as I love the RR's... I wouldn't have a problem with this F4i. It has the RR looks with the dual seat. Plus, you're saving a lot of money and getting a good jacket to boot. Go for it. Just let charles6 know the contact info so he can buy the RR

Exactly what I was thinking. The $1700 price difference will definitely be handy. Make my monthly payments easier to handle. So the Black 600RR is up for grabs now. The guy just called me back and said that his friend had issues emailing me pics which is why I hadn't gotten an email. I did ask him if he was firm on the price and he said yes. $5700 is firm, so no b/o, but you guys could still try. Here is his contact information:

He doesn't seem to really respond to his emails, so I would just contact him via phone. Good Luck to whoever is going to purchase it. $5700 for that bike is a great deal!

Thanks for the info... I'll go check on some shipping prices and might get back to the guy. I didn't realize he was in Mass. That is a nice f4i and a great price good luck with it.
