Yes that's very true, you can have 100 bikes come off the production line, and each one will require different map for otimum performance. In short term, no 2 bikes are the same, even if they are both same year and model.

I am getting my bike custom tuned this spring too, Dynojet claims that stock bike is tuned between 75%-80% of its optimum performance, as manufacturers use same mapping on thousands of bikes that leave the production line. Also mapping is kept a little on conservative side to avoid any defects, especially during warranty period.

If you get a MAP from Dynojet, they claim that they bring the efficiency number to anywhere between 85%-90%.

So the remaining 10% is where your custom mapping comes into play.

Ofcourse, an average rider may not even notice these changes too much, but someone that likes to push their limits, and perhaps does a lot of track time, will for sure notice it.
