How fast does each one go? Very curious due to the fact that I can't see possibly going anywhere near the limit on my 600! Is the 1000RR mainly for the track. Was told by Honda that my bike could reach speeds up to 160-165! Where the hell am I gonna find a road by me to test that limit let alone a 1000 that can do up to 185??

Dude, it doesn't take very long to top one of these babies out. If you gotta go more than a mile to hit top end -- you're doing it wrong If you're not used to hitting ludicrous speeds be cautioned: they don't handle the same at 170mph as they do at 100mph. Stuff comes at you incredibly fast and reactions must be instinctive.

Having said all that ... my 1000RR has indicated a big 174mph on the speedo in 5th gear. That's quite fast enough.

Anywayz... , I got my bike up to 150 mph today! Almost got killed though as this idiot decided to veer into my lane without looking and I slammed on the brakes but it was inevitable that I was going to crash into him at about 85 mph All of a sudden he realized the error of his ways and right before I was about to hit the bumper, he quickly made a sharp right back into the other lane. Let me tell you...That was definitely the closest I've been to death as of yet! It's a weird feeling knowing you're going to crash and theres not one thing you can do about it After that incident, my chest was hurting and I had severe heartburn ..I lugged the bike the rest of the way home at about 40 mph's and collapsed on my living room floor when I arrived home only to be licked on the nose and mouth by my wacky pooch!...

Wow. It sounds like you learned a lesson. Glad to hear you made it out alright. Just goes to show there's a time to go fast, and a time to watch your butt. Pulling 150 on a road with other cars isn't the best of ideas, play it extra safe and find a long, deserted road to push the limits.

Before it's permanent, go smooth out that pucker in yer seat The trick to living through literally thousands of 150+ mph runs is to do it when there is no traffic. Cagers are stooooopid. Regardless of the fact that they were eating, talkin on the cell, reading the paper and peeing in a cup while they swerved in your lane you can be sure that they'll blame it on you

Believe you me...I definitely learned a lesson! I was just trying to see what this bike could do and he was the ONLY car on the Parkway! Of all times for this dingbat to screw up, he hadda do it on my clock. If anything, it definitely helped me to fear and respect my bike a helluva lot more. Whooda thunk a 600 could go so fast and skid so well

600's are as fast as 1000's...the aren't as quick...but my buddies '04 zx636r with a power commander and pipe could keep up with my '03 cbr954rr pipe power commander k&n filter both reading digits hovering near 175+ flying down the interstate at night splitting cars...not my smartest driving experience yet to date but i'm still here to tell the tale...and yeah if u can't get that sucker goin as fast as it'll go in less than a mile then ur jus too scared...which isn't necessarly a bad thing...i think my problem is that i'm just too stupid to stop

Ive gotten my 6RR up to 163 and was keepin up with my friend on a gsxr 6 which speedo was saying 168, and we had about 6 other bikes with us including a 05 RR and he wasnt keepin up with me and my friend.

We all compared, and they all said we were doin bout 165 on all speedos... so Maybe ALL speedo's are wrong?

Im not here to flame... but why are you so pissed at this guy who was driving legally, whilst you were driving flat-out ILLEGALLY. You also gotta remember, even though the bike can do it, that doesnt mean its "right" and "just". Im not saying, in anyway, that its not fun... but c'mon. If your going to bad things, you should realize that you have to cover yourself at all times... most people arent looking for a bike cruising 150 + when the road may be a 50 mph road. If they glance and see you way out there, thinkin your doin 50, not 150, they got plenty of time.

im sorry, but I had to say it. Im not trying to be mean, or shut you down, as I do the same things you do. Its addicting... just watch out for yourself and be overly cautious at those speeds... wierder things have happened....

Chris

*edit: I forgot to add that Im glad your alright, and hopefully have taken something from this experience (other than your soiled drawers) As Ive been told "TAKE THAT SEAT OUT OF YER A$$ AND TRY IT AGAIN" :P ok ok... maybe not the BEST of advice

I hit 164 on the speedo just barely before I got home from work... Its a nice little 5 mile stretch of nothin by my house... I just hooked my power commander up 2 days ago, and its alot smoother...

I hear ya LOKI but as a rider WE ALL know that we should "ride within our limits" Ya get to dem by pushin yer self a lil at a time, at least dats what I do. I aignt tryin ta cause static wid ya neither. I feel ya on the whole being safe thang cuz yer right. folks on 4 don't even see us at 40mph and they still bump/run into us ,and Stretch put it just right, as day be fiddlin around wid $hit in durr ride. Just be safe! We ALL KNOW what we got our selves into when we took up 2 wheels, lets just remember ta be straight when we're ridin!

Uhhh.. admittedly, I was driving way too fast but as I said:He was doing 85 in a 55 also and didn't signal when changing lanes! I figured it was just him and I on a long, empty highway when that jackass decides to "veere" into my lanne for no reason whatsoever without even a warning without using his turning signals! I wanted to push the bike and I felt that would've been the perfect time to do it as there is very rarely a time like that when there are no other vehicles around! We all try to find the perfect circumstance to push the bike a little and I figured that was mine until this dickweed got in my way! That's why I'm mad! He was just as much at fault as I! He's lucky I didn't follow him and smash my friggin' helmet through his back window!

Hit pretty damn close to redline in 6th today. dunno if I should say this, but the (3) "ppl" who were chasing me... They had no chance.

Stupid that you can get in trouble for skitchin. freal. I mean you fall, your bike hits a cement barrier, you slide, die, or get up and ride off, or get hit by a car... Whats the big deal? lol

I had the choice of both the 1000 and the 600...600>>much cheaper>>less insurance>>>better in the twisties>>> No need to go 180mph>> Mainly used for commuting to and fro work>>>Bike has the power when I need it and really don't feel the need for anymore than it's got>>>We got tons of traffic here on Long Island so really can't use the 1000 to it's full potential>>> did I mention much, much less monthly payments???>>>pushed it to 160 already and know it can go faster so the grin factor is more than enough for me>>>
Really like the way it revs a lot higher than my buds 1000>>> Oh...and one more thing...Lot's cheaper than the 1000 but just as much fun if not more due to the fact that I've yet to see anyone in my area go above 150 for more than 2 minutes anywayz so it really doesn't make sense to pay thousands more for 2 minutes of being able to go maybe 20mph more than the 600

Peeps that can logically justify the 600 over the 1000 and stick with the logic at the dealership amaze me. If I were going to buy a bike for the track only I'd get a 600RR. I don't care about the purchase price or insurance or gas mileage -- if that stuff really mattered I guess I'd buy a Ninja 250. I like the 1000 because it has gobs of power everywhere and is docile until you kick it in the ass. And unless you got Matt Mladin on a 600 the 1000 handles damn fine.

I do care about the Price as I got a high mortgage to pay...a wife and 2 kids...2 '04 cars...2 bikes..and NY happens to be one of the most expensive places to live so while you don't care, it matters a helluva lot to me that I can have just as much fun at a much smaller portion of the price(bike and insurance) that you pay!
