1st question

Is anyone using a manual cam chain tensioner on their Hurricane?
How much of a bite is the install?
Is the chain adjustment ability worth the purchase?

2nd question.

Intake and exhaust valve settings.
I have my cane set on the loose side.
intake 0.007 and exhaust 0.009

Do you all run tighter settings ?

Thanks John

answer #1 -

a. i personally am not using one. the oem unit seems to work just fine.

b. given what i have seen and read, it doesn't look like that big of a job should you want to do it.

c. ask yourself, "how often would i need to adjust my cam chain?". if you believe that you need to adjust your cam chain that often, then i think there is a more serious mechanical problem awaiting you.

answer #2

no. over time the valve train will tighten by itself. if you run tighter now, eventually the valves will back into the valve port. not good for the valve or the head. i run within spec. and use the proper feeler guage to check clearance. if you run tighter, that is not good for the shim, valve, or bucket, or tappet as when the point of rotation gets tighter, the engine has to work harder to complete that cam rotation to get past that tight point.
