ok so i just bought a 2001 cbr 600, i love the bike i could not ask for more, brand new exhaust, upgraded intake, new stainless brake lines, brand new tires, the works. i seem to have one problem tho, after the bikes warms up and i get riding it rides great, except once i get into town and start stopping at every light that i come to the bike likes ot quit, it will start skipping idol then completely die, the temp when running the bike on open road is any where from 174-185, when i get into town and start sitting at lights the temp will rise to any where around 190-220, im not sure if the previous owner modified anything, that if there used to be a idol fane that was removed or if their might be a intake manifold leak or head gasket leak, i dont have the owners manual but im getting a shop manual tommorrow and hope to try to find out what the problem is, if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it please let me know, it will save me alot of time of ripping the bike apart to try to find the issue.

na thats normal when you stop on the F4i the temp almost instantly hits 220 if it goes any higher then 240 then be worried otherwise it's 100% normal

but my guess is maybe a bad tank of gas and or spark plugs on whats wrong with it.

the plugs are due to be replaced in about 3,000 miles, would that be the reason for staling at red lights and when stopped, that the only thing that im worried about just because its a pain in the ass to constantly keep restarting the bike and giving it gas to keep it from staling

I'm not really sure since i'v never heard of the problem but i know its not the bike overheating at that temprature. i'd guess what i offerd in the first post. but im not really sure.

what's the bike idling at when fully warm?

it idles at about 750 to 500 which i think is a little low but im not sure how to adjust the idle on a fuel injected bike since i didnt get a manual when i bought it and i have to go get the shop manual, when its warming up it starts at about 3,000 then dropps to about 750

I am pretty sure the manual on my 02 states normal idle is 1300 rpm once warm. There is a way to adjust your idle on ther left side of the bike just below mid-way. It looks like a hose with a cap on the end. You can twist it left or right and that will adjust the idle, however I would investigate why it was that low in the first place.  AS far as temp goes like Roger stated thats normal. My bike cruises around 180-185 on open road and rises to 220+ in town at every stop light. My fan kicks on at 224 and will stay on til 218-219. I used to be worried about it, but now realize thats how it's suppose to work.

yea mang...if you idle that sucker up to 1300 i don't think you'll have an issue with stalling anymore unless you have other issues going on.

adjust the idle and report back.

i took it up to a shop in my town petes cycle and the guy adjusted the idol for me, the idol wouldnt adjust because the idol cable had come loose from the throttle body, we got it screwed back in and raised it to 1300 and it runs like a dream, thanks for ur input guys, ill post some pics of it this evening
