Firstly, I tried to use the search feature to see if this had been answered, but I couldn't find anything so if this is a redo I'm sorry.

I'm going to look at a private sale on an 05 Repsol with 3500 miles... the price is good, but my question is this... how can I tell based on the VIN number that it is a true repsol and not just a regular 1000 with replaced fairings?  I figure if I'm paying a premium I want it to be worth it.

Also, I tried to find any recall info for the bike but I couldn't find anything.... where there any recalls that should be looked into before buying?

i have an 07, got a recall notice on a possible faulty fuel vent line.  i think it said that it was the same recall from previous years 04 05 06.  not 100% sure but he would have gotten the notice so you should ask if hes had it checked out.  if he did he will have the paper work proving so that the DMV needs to see before renewing registration because it has to do with emissions.

From my understanding the '05 Repsol have black frames and '07 have silver frames...that's one way to tell...good luck tho..!!
