I have my hear leaning to the honda and it might be strang to ask this here..but you guys have much more info on this.. I'm a new rider and the stats look close to the same but the yahama is 1.5K cheaper? is there something much better on the honda? thanks for any info you can offer.

I'd take an r6 over an f4i anyday, but not the 600r. It's lame and the quality of yamaha isn't even close to that of honda.

personally... if ur a new rider (assuming its ur first bike) i would buy used / buy cash, and start small too.

I'm a semi-new rider.. 10 years since I road. I need to work on my credit anyway. I can cover the cost.. but 1.5K is 1.5K.. ahah. I dont want to start too small.. 1 is that I'm a lofty 240lbs and 2 mopeds go up to 580cc .. and I dont knwo about you.. but I dont want to be on a street bike that can be blow away buy a moped.. princables

It's really upto you. I'd stick with a used bike, there is alot of nice used deals out there. I've been away from the moto scene for 5 years and wanted brand new, but I am glad I got something used so I can get the wheel time then upgrade to new later on. Also you gotta go test the fit out on both. Personally the F4i is very comfy to me. Good luck on your decision.

Well.. this sat I will head down to the honda shop and see what they have. I'm open to a year or 2 older bike, but I did want to be able to finance some to work on my credit more. I got a quote for 2006 f4i out the door for $8963.. or get the 05 with the color I dont like for 500 less.. ahha.. they have other brand bikes there so I will look around. Anyways, thanks for the help guys. if I get the bike I will really need your help to understand parts and other things. I have no plan on making it go fast for a long while.. just maybe safer and more solid.

i'd hook up with an older F4i for much less. i don't think the F4i, 05 or 06 should be that much!
get one used with some mileage on there.
at 240...i'm a bit hesitant about the F4i though...i would opt for something with mucho torque...like an SV or something.

I'm in the bay area (northern cali).. so being 240lbs will make my 600cc into a 250cc? haha.. Is 8963 too much for a new bike out the door with tax and lic?

The f4i is wayyyy overpriced new. 8900 is too expensive for that bike. Why pay that price for a new one when you can buy the same thing used for nearly half as much? The 600R is just a horrible bike, I can't believe people still buy that but I guess it would appeal to new riders. But it has styling and performance of 10 years ago. Id look at the Kawasaki zzr600, which is a '01-'02 Ninja ZX6R just rebadged and has cheaper insurance. It has performance similar to or better than the f4i and is quite a bit cheaper. And then there is the 2006 Yamaha r6s, which is basically an '04 R6, with an msrp of 8200...again cheaper than the f4i.

My 2001 F4i is plenty quick, and Im 250 pounds. I take really good care of it and adjust my suspension accordingly, thats all. If you want- its your for $5000.

I'd go with the R6 for power and responsiveness, and it doesn't hurt that it's $1.5K cheaper either

Have you checked into insurance for the bike as well? That could usually be the decision breaker/maker in most cases. Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys.. yesterday I went to "look/pick up" the bike and I found out that they only go through 2 places for financing?!?!?!.. honda and some gmc thing? they do go through the bank that I have my 05 stang on.. but not for hondas, only for yahama!!.. So now I'm thinking of getting the 2006 r6s and putting down a good 2K. I just dont know whats yup with honda.. my credit is not perfect.. but I paid off all my expensive cars and bring in a good some of money a month... I was sitting on a nice yellow 2006.. =-/ I could have drove out there.. but no.... hseeeeeeeeeeeeeet

I bought a brand new YZF600 in 2000 and sold it a year later. I rode my buddys 1999 F4 all the time when I had it becouse I got bored with the clunkyness of the YZF after the "new" wore off. Id save some serious money and get a well checked out "weekend ridden, never downed" R6 or F4 or F4i. I have an '01 F4i now and I love it, plus it was about 3 grand less then what I paid for the new YZF.
If its your first ever sport bike, find an older F4/F3 or something that you wont be disappointed with in power once you get used to it or mad if it gets dropped. Sorry for the novel...
