I was wondering what type of oil I need, and how much? Under the rear seat it said 10-40w sae.... Not regular car oil..RIGHT That would be just crazy. And should I still use the factory honda filter or should I use something else.

Can anybody help me out.

I used regular oil up to my 4K oil changed, and then switched to Mutol full synthetic and now I'm using silkoline full synthetic. I heard that's over kill, but I've always been a fan to using synthetic oil for my bike. I'm also buying the oil and filter at a cycle shop and changing myself. Hope this helps.

should be in your manual but my 06 takes 3.3 with a filter change.
as far as filters go,
K&N

same price as oem, awesome quality plus they have the nut at the end making tightening and remove easier

Ditto on the K&N -- excellent quality and the handy nut Lots of oil threads floating around. Only thing that's constant is that everybody does it differently. I prefer Mobil1. Main thing is that you keep the oil and filter changed at regular intervals for a long engine life.

I did my 600 mi service and used a honda filter and honda gn4 oil. I changed the oil every 1500 miles in my old gixxer. I'm going to use mxt4 mobile 1 on my next oil change and change it around 3000 miles or so. Also, the dealer told me 3.7 quarts.
