Recently on my 00' Honda cbr929rr fourth gear started giving me problems and i have no clue what could have gone wrong??? when you shift into fourth and apply any throttle it throws it right out of gear, but every other gear is fine....any idea what its gonna take to repair this or what caused this problem... the bike has about 15,000 mile on it.....any replies would be helpful thanks.

Sounds like a bent shift fork and, or rounded dogs on the gear. If the gear is TOO rounded it can't be fixed and you'll have to replace second gear. The fix for that is to have second gear undercut which can done to a new gear as well. We do it for 125.00 and it takes about 3 weeks with shipping etc..

Let me know if we can help.

My 03 954 is doing the same thing!!! It doesn't do it all the time but it will do it ocasionally. Altough mine kicks out of 4th gear for a split second and then re-engages. is this what could be wrong with mine as well?? Mine has 11,200 miles with no engine mods other than a -1 tooth front sprocket. Like i said it kicks out of gear under throttle and then re-engages almost immedialty almost like the clutch slips. But the clutch is fine because it doesnt give me any problems in any other gear. Its winter time so i'd like to know what to do before it gets warm again!! Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bent shift fork to me too, usual symptoms you have described.

THANKS ANUBIS! Now to fix this do i have to pull the engine from the bike and split the case? Or can i get to the tranny with the engine still in the bike?
