Amor-All on my tires. Yikes!

So, i brought home my new 2000 929 a couple nights ago and the next morning I took it out to play. I was taking it very slow trying to feel it out. When I turned it sort of felt like my rear was sliding out but, at the time, I thought it might just be the inverted forks that I had never experienced before and I was only putting around in 1st and 2nd gears. I took a left turn from a dead stop and got up to maybe 10mph and my rear slid out from under me like I hit a grease spot in the road. Luckily the frame slider took most of the rub. I rode it home cautiously and found that the guy I bought it from had caked my tires with armor all! Yep! He basically greased up my tires. True, I should have inspected them better before riding but it was a little wet out so the tires just looked wet to me.
 
Anyway, does anyone have a sure fire way of removing this crap?
I washed them with dish soap and water multiple times and even sanded the tread down a little with some very coarse sand paper but I'm still a little nervous to start leaning on the bike.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Suggestions?

sand paper usually does the trick, just take it easy and see if it helped, atleast you know whats up now!

THANK YOU! I always recommend sand-papering tires when they're new or have slick stuff on them, but everyone always chews my head off for it. Sand paper works wonders for new tires too. You never have to worry about slipping around after you give them a good, light sand.

Yeah, I think the sanding really did the trick. I took my bike out today and got caught in the rain and the tires handled nice. I think the prewashing was necessary, though.

Soap, water, smooth surface, a lot of front brake, gas, and pop the clutch...
