I was curious as to what the 06 is really making. Anyone that had an 04 or 05 before to compare it with? I don't want to read about published numbers from mags or online, just real world numbers from the general public. Thanks....

Okay these are real figures as one is my bike and one is a friends bike and we had them done on the same day to see what they would put out stock before we did mods...My 04 put out 139hp @ the tyre stock, then with k & n filters and hindle pipe it ended up making 146 hp @ the tyre.. My friends 06 put out 141 hp @ the tyre stock, then he did full Akrapovic system , k & n filters and power commander 3 and got 168 hp @ the tyre.. So they are real figures running on australian 98 octane fuel!! Now i think the USA has poorer fuel quality for figures may vary?

Thats not to bad at all. I think the fuel here in the US could be BETTER for hp, less octane will burn faster and make more hp! 98 octane is kinda high for stock bikes.

i have always asummed the higher the octane the better for power?

you only want enough octane to prevent detonation- that =complete fuel burn and max power-also not all fuels have the same btu content-in the northeats i only use citgo 93 or sunoco 93 ,ultra 94-my grand national turbo 6 cylinder pumps ou the most power on the dyno on citgo-phil

Not so. I used VP's MR9 race gas in my 04 RR and it made 7rwhp on the dyno, and that only has 87 octane. It also has a lot of oxygenation in it also, but the lowest octane you can burn and not get detonation WILL make the most hp. High octane fuels burn slower and need compression to make them burn efficiently.

hmm..dats funny!! mine 04 put out 145hp @ the rear wheel stock(dyno break-in) but put out 149hp

with a bmc air filter, yoshi GP force slip on,v stacks and PC III usb..dat means an additional 4 pathetic hp after mod..i wanna cry!!

I posted some figures a week or so ago under the topic CBR 1000RR vs R1 vs ZX10, makes some interesting reading!

Did you try the Dyno with the V stacks? I havn't seen any work on the 1000RR yet...
Also, that Slip-on isn't doing you any huge favors either. Arata or Sato will get you some measurable HP.

Here’s the dyno charts. Just for clarity, Werner rides a ZX10 with Acrapovic slip-on’s, Marius rides the R1, with Two Brothers slip-on’s. All with BMC filters and no other mods.

the zx-10 is no joke on HP.. not to mention dyno hp is off by a minimum of 10hp at speed cause with the ram air it picks up 10-12hp thru the power band after 140mph..
