I'm pretty sure my radiator fan thermostat is toast, and I've ordered a new one.
If I get 4 or 5 long stoplights in a row on a warm day, I can get the temp needle up almost to the "H", but my fan never turns on.
I know the fan is "working", If I disconnect the faston and ground it the fan turns on.
At what point on the TEMP GAUGE does your radiator fan turn on?
Thanks

mine usually comes on about a eighth inch from the H mark.

An eighth inch from the letter "H", or an eighth inch from the 'solid' part of the bar on the gauge?
Today I got right to the tiny space between the 'hollow' part of the marks and the 'solid' part around the H.
Thanks, dude.

That sounds right for my fan too.

an eighth from the solid "H" hash mark. i don't think i have ever seen my needle past the long solid arc even on the hotest days.

lets just say that it turns on when it hits about 3/4 of the gauge??

Mine never does. I have yet to see it go past the half-way mark (not as hot around here as some other parts of this world). But if it does get hot, it won't turn on by itself. I have a manual switch for it. Maybe you should consider the same...

My fan starts when the needle gets to about 1/8" from the top end of the hollow bar. It didn't used to start at all, until I cleaned up the connections.

I am the same as everyone else, but at first it wouldnt work had to disconnect it from the other side, then clean connect. Presto Works
