Coming home from work tonite something from the road flew up between my tire and front fender. All I know is that the bastard just exploded. Was going around a tight curve on ramp and just lost the front end and brakes. Managed to get it stopped and was just sick when I saw the front end. Part of the fender was just dangling by the brake line. Ended up cutting it off with my knife -- ran back 100yds and got the rest of the pieces and secured them all to the bike. Limped home. Under closer inspection my left fork tube has the tabs broken off where the fender mounts. I soaped everything up to get the brake fluid off. Appears to be $1000 worth of damage if the brakes and upper forks are still o.k.
Be careful out there boys and girls -- looks like I'm a cager for a while.
dooooood.....

that bites the stankiest pile of steamin cow dung. are you okay at least? I dont get it, what did actually explode between your fender and tire? on the flip side, fix and trade it in. 2006s are almost out!

Damn man, sorry to hear about that. Any ideas what it was? Hopefully there was no other damage. Good luck getting it back together soon and great job on keeping the bike upright when it happend.

Think it was a bag of something laying in the road. Everything was wet and I didn't see anything -- plus it was dark.

Thanks guys -- I'm trying to smile and take the advice I always give but it ain't easy. It was fortunate that I didn't hit the concrete barrier -- divine intervention I spose.
Yo Limpy -- did ya get my second PM with the extra parts?

I'd post pics of the carnage but my digital camera took a big shit last week and I'm waiting for the new one to arrive. It ain't been a really good week dudes. On the up-side I suppose I'll have a great DIY on rebuilding forks.

Sorry to hear about your bike. On the bright side you get to buy and test new goodies for the front end. Is your insurance going to cover the damages?

Insurance -- ha ha ha ha ha

I just got's liability -- the comprehensive would have me living under a bridge in a cardboard box. My deductibles on everything I own is $1000 so insurance wouldn't have helped anyway.
But you're right -- new goodies. I'm getting with Limpy and he's setting me up pretty good.

sorry about that awful mishap, bro. it if makes you feel any better, I got a paper cut trying lick an envelope yesterday :-)
dude, just trying to cheer you up. situation like this, you gotta be able laugh it off, otherwise you just might go out there and beat the living hell out of somebody. and I'm pretty sure that has crossed your mind, huh?
hey, c'mon, everyone, this the best time to show your CBR spirit, let's start a fund raiser for a brother in trouble. I'm serious!!
hey, I just had a brainstorm, we could actually do this, if somebody's need funds to get his bike on the road, we could help out. of course, we will verify that it's legit. feedback please.

Hey Speedy I really appreciate that dude -- seems like some of the best people I know I've never met. Limpy's setting me up with a good deal on all the parts so I can't complain too much. I ain't rich but I've got rainy day funds for just this type of emergency -- just hope my unlucky streak ends at 3. And you're right dude -- wanted to hit someone or something really bad Monday night

But like 'they' always say "that which does not kill you makes you stronger". Maybe it don't really apply here but it at least keeps me semi sane. thanks again for the thoughts, bro!

I would be willing to start a "problem" fund, where someone either high sides and smashes a helmet or someting or like what happen to poor chainstretcher, and come up with a couple bux from each and help em get back on the road. I would like it if someone did it for me, so I will do it for others, all we need to do is set something up~ Really....
