He's the best hitter from the steroid era!  He's better than McGwire, Sosa, Canseco, Palmeiro, etc, etc, etc, etc...It is an amazing feet from a player who was in the hall of fame before he ever allegedly used steroids.  I am torn.  The big talk is about how Arod will own the record one day, as long as he stays healthy, and he is a stand up guy as far as juicing is concerned.  For now...congrats...I think ...

I cannot stand Barry Bonds, but I will make this statement not in his defense. Baseball is more than a physical game. There is quite a bit of mental strategy involved, and a hell of a lot of hand eye coordination involved in hitting the ball. You can have all the power in the world, but if you don't possess the hand eye coordination to make contact it makes no difference. But possessing enormous amounts of strength will allow you to make contact with the ball when it's not in your wheelhouse and drive it out of the park as long as you possess good hand eye coordination. As for his Piss poor attitude it is probably linked to the unproven use of steroids. I will not say it is impossible for individual to go from the size he was years ago, to his current physical size, but it takes a hell of a lot of dedication and hard work. And if his work ethic as far as training and working out with the team is any indication of how he physically trains his body. I truly doubt that he possesses the driver and determination to train hard enough to achieve his muscle mass without using what some refer to as better life through chemistry

I think Arod is currently the best player in the game...be even better if he were playing his regular possition.  Hey Catman, how's about Clemens (another alleged steroid user) serving out justice, last night,  with the old sweet chin music?  Clemens has that old school sense of justice !

i second, third, fourth.....fifth, etc...that bonds is an ass-hat

don't know if any of you heard some clips from his post-game but man he's an arrogant SOB...my favorite line was..."no it's not tainted, no no matter what it's not tainted"....ummmmm....yeah.....he's so f****** high and mighty....i hope to god they asterick the damn thing.....i know that will piss him off more than anything...and i hope he goes to jail for perjury.....ahhh....to dream.....so....no...no congrats to bonds....and heartfelt goodbye to hank....a stand up guy in baseball.....(even taped a message though he didn't agree with him, pure class) as opposed to bonds.....

as for the hand-eye coordination...i agree...however...there are tons of hitters who have incredible hit streaks.....but if they were juiced to hell would be a much better home run hitter than bonds....i will never take away his ability to hit...that is his...no juice is going to affect that....but driving it out of the park.....that's the juice....the SOB barely hits these days...but when he does it's a homerun....not the definition of a "good hitter" so screw you again bonds....i am so pissed....

freakin ruined my morning....

As I said, I'm on the "congrats Barry" side of things, but I have an idea.  Say he gets busted for steroids at some point.  Maybe baseball should go back to the year it was discovered he was taking steroids, and strip him of all his homeruns after that point.  Hank gets his record back, and waits for Arod...yeah right!

Barry Bonds juiced, but I'm inclined to believe Jose Canseco, who said that something like 65 or 70% of major leagures are doping.  So if a juiced hitter goes deep against a juiced pitcher, they're both cheating .  Doesn't make it right, but it's not like steroids give Bonds an advantage over every other player.  He still has 150 more career homeruns than the second most prolific slugger of the steroids era (Sosa).

And I love how people assume that Alex Rodriguez is clean.  Based on what?  He's one of my favorite players, but I don't assume he's clean, any more than I  assume that Pujols, Ortiz, Carlos Delgado, Ryan Howard, or anyone else is clean.

Clean from steroids...doesn't mean they don't take H.G.H.  I don't think there is a test for that yet, is there?

if bonds wasnt such an arrogant prick, people might turn a blind eye towards the whole steroids issue...he has to be the most hated person in sports because of the way he is,acts, talks about how his shit dont stink etc and it doesnt help that its so painfully obvious he's juicing...

+1.....

the arrogance is so bad.....i mean maybe i COULD turn a blind eye...hell we all did when sosa and mcgwire were chasing each other....but with bonds...he gives you a reason to hate him...he enjoys it...he's a black mark on baseball......the worst part of it all, is this a-hole replaced such a beloved player as aaron.....who was nothing but class through this whole ordeal....

i guarantee when someone breaks his record...he won't comment, won't be around to say anything...he'll pout like the little bitch he is....i wish they would just wipe him out of the books....hopefully he will be convicted of steroid use and perjury and not make it into the hall of fame, and can asterick his "record"....that would make me happy...

15 years from now when i talk to my kids.....i won't even mention his name....and if my kids ask, i'll make sure they know about him, so they can forget him....

Bonds is definitely an ass-hat, but I wouldn't have minded catching that #756 homerun ball. Who cares if it won't sell for $3M like McGwire's #70 ball? I'd leave the game immediately, take a pic with my cell, go straight to the nearest internet cafe and put that biatch on eBay.

Colin Herd on ESPN radio said to sell that ball as fast as you can.  In about six years, Arod will hold the title, and what will that ball be worth then?  And what if he gets convicted for steroids...how much is your baseball going to be worth then?  Get you $500K and let the next guy worry about if he should give it back.  Even Bonds said if the guy caught it, it is his.  Sell that bitch!!!

Some of you crack me up, really. Harassing Bonds for his arrogance is one thing, but to hold his *cough* alleged steroid use against him is another. The naivete exuded by some of you is incredible if don't think nearly all top athletes are juicing. Sure, he's a douche bag for cheating, but if you want to call him a douche bag for cheating, then nearly all professional and quite a few top level college athletes need to be lumped into that category.

The biggest joke is someone complaining about a pitcher juicing, what the hell are steroids going to do for Clemens? News flash: steroids won't make you a more accurate pitcher. The only forseeable benefit for a pitcher to use steroids would be injury prevention/rehabilitation.

How come the NFL isn't getting any attention over steroid use? Steroid use in the NFL is much much more prominent, and has an infinitely greater potential to increase a players ability. What about Lance Armstrong and his usage of EPO? While definitely not a steroid, still an illegal performance enhancer.

As for the "I might be able to overlook his steroid use if he wasn't so arrogant" group, get over it, really. Basically what you're saying is that an athlete is allowed to cheat by way of steroids, but only if their really nice person? I've never heard such a dumb statement.

I'll give you another item to think about. I personally know of a few Police and Correctional Officers who juice, are they cheating against the criminals? When was the last time you heard a convict bitch about a cop only being able to catch him because he was on regimen of 500mg Testosterone/week. People bitch about steroids for one reason: they work.

It's funny how fans want to see big numbers and freakish athletes, but then when they find out how the players achieve such numbers they create a media witch hunt disguised as a "save the children" campaign.

gringo brings up a number of good points....why should/would we look the other way if the guy was nice?

i doubt that 70% of players where using steroids, but that is somehting we'll never probably know.
its been proven (somehow) that steroids will not help pitchers throw harder, only recover from injury and between starts faster and better. this is a big deal though especially with a long grueling season.
HGH is not tested for, to test for that MLB would have to require a blood test, that is the only way possible to detect it.....personally i think that is what barry bonds is taking.
and yes WHY do we look the other way with football players?

last point.....yes barry is an ass hat.

gringo.....you are misinterpreting some people...at least me....i particularly am appalled with bonds and his steroid use not because of him as compared against other players now....but him dethroning Hank who DIDN'T use any type of performing enhancing drugs....

two, we aren't talking about the NFL...but yeah....roid use there sucks too....

it's not that i could get over his steroid use and would "forgive" him if he wasn't a prick, i am just saying he would blend in with all the others you don't really notice....he makes it a point to be the center of attention...if he didn't and he just did what he did, i probably wouldn't care...he brings this scrutiny on himself and he enjoys it, so yes, if he was a little humbler he would blend in with all the other juicers....but he doesn't...his choice....

and talking about police officers...that's a stupid comment.....POs aren't making $15 million dollars....aren't claiming that they can do this or this because of natural talent.....etc......comparing a sport to POs going after criminals is not even remotely alike....

finally, don't assume because i chastise bonds that i am a person who likes the "big numbers"...i could care less if another record is ever broken....i could care less if homeruns went down long as a good game was played...you characterizing all baseball fans as huge play mongers wanting more homeruns and scoring is baseless....i would take a well pitched baseball game striking out 12 or a 2-hitter over a game with 10 homeruns.....don't assume things.....
