this is the first time that I have ever ridden a bike. for the first time last week i got on it...it killed on me a few times but I have gotten used to riding it...i stated in an earlier post that I was going to get a cbr 1k when they come out and i plan on sticking to my word. the ninja is a good bike and i think that i'm almost used to riding it...i have crazy thoughts about putting it in the air but i know that i'm nowhere near ready for that nor do i need to be road kill. hopefully everthing goes fine from here on out with my learning curve...i'm still in possession of it and will ride it until he decides to pick it up....there is nothing like going to the gas station and paying 7 bucks for premium....lol....until then...wish me luck...i will see you guys soon as i get my new cbr and post some picks....take care..

^^ Humh indeed.
A 600RR is nowhere near being a starters bike, much less a 1000RR.......AND you are already having thoughts of bringing up the front end?
Anyone else thinking cheap parts on eBay in a month or so?

we have been friends since junior high school...it's a 1k ninja...i was joking about attempting to pick the bike up...the statement was just the fact that i'm not "comfortable" with the bike so to say...but i'm beyond the stop and go part of learning....no doubt i'm a NOOB...and i know being cocky on a bike could lead to another set of problems a la the emergency room and morgue and lastly ebay....just bear with me...i may be cbr bound soon enough...

People dont give these 600's enough credit. I have a 1000,and i ride in the twisties with guys who have 600's,and they kill me everytime. Sure in the straights i'm faster, but in the curves the 600's have it.

ummm...steve...that's a dumb comment..not everyone lusts after a litre bike if they have a 600...hop over into the f4i forum...there a lot of guys who don't care about the 1k...they're nice and all but i am not upset about my 600.....besides, like everyone says...it's the skill of the rider....you may get to the turns quicker, but i'll beat you in the turns every time.....

the 600 is to small for me ,im 6 4 and even feel cramped on the 1000 bikes which are not that much bigger then the 600 s.the people i know wanted a 1000 bike after they got the 600,im not saying they where not happy with the 600.ive ridden the f4i and it is 1 of the easyest bikes out there to ride,a very good first bike.

A bike is only as good at its rider.........simple as that. Doesn't matter what you bought, what mods you do to it, or what gear you wear, it ALL comes down to that one, simple little sentence. An MSF-course graduate on a 600 will OWN a "self taught" noob riding a 1000cc any day of the week.

I agree to a point every ridder that passes the MSF class is not a good ridder,or anywhere near ready to take on 600 rr on the road with the false security that they are ready, just because they took the class. I took the class to get my M class in IL I will tell you several people in the class have no business being on a bike. Just do not have the ablity to ride anything much bigger then the 250 rebel if that. "the hardest thing about this class is getting in" was the first thing said to us in the class, and only 1 person did not pass.I am no expert but I have been ridding bikes for over 20 years and several people that passed are not ready to ride on the streets.

^^ True. An MSF course is only as good as the instructor.........but that discussion is worth a thread of its own.
The point of me even bringing up the 600cc MSF rider vs. 1000cc noob rider was to show that new riders just jumping onto a 1000cc sport bike with no prior experience on motorcycles, and teaching themselves how to ride without proper instruction IS a foolish idea. That's all. I thought I was being clever.

My MSF class was a joke (lake worth Florida). Great to get that endorsement on the D/L but???
I'm a self learner, learned on a F4 from 99-03 - 28,000 miles. Never got my license so figured I would do it properly with my liter bike. The class was an absolute joke- ace'd the written and driven on a f'ed up buell.

^^ You have the state/city funded MSF courses with retard instructors and programs............
........and then you have the independant MSF courses that go through dealerships. The best one I've been to so far was the "RidersEdge" program through the Harley Davidson dealerships. EXTREMELY incredible class, and I recommend it to anyone looking to ride, or has even been riding and wants to refresh skills and shake their bad habits. It was a 3-day classroom instruction at the dealer, then 2 FULL days of riding drills on the course. Then you have to pass a rigorous final exam which is actually very difficult (and glad it was). One person in my class just couldn't grasp it, and should never be on a bike, ever. She would have passed the state test perfectly and ended up killing herself the same day. The instructors on this class though really worked with her, and at the end, they told her that she just wasn't grasping the concept of riding and failed her. That's EXACTLY what the state MSF courses should be doing..........but then again, if it's a standard "we only offer it because the state makes us" type of class, it's going to be crap.

I think its such a joke you guys that act like a 600 is an automatic death machine. I bought one 6 months ago, and I'm honestly bored with it. Grew up on dirtbikes, bought this as my first street bike. A guy thats been riding for 20+ years on about 9 different bikes taught me starting out. No MSF course or anything, and I'm bored on my 600. And just like Steve said, I'm also tall, going 6'3, and my 600 just sits way too high for my liking now that I'm used to it after 3k miles and am looking for something with more forward lean.
So all you guys that talk them up like theyre totally the baddest things on the planet and are on par with anything greater than a 636 are lying to yourselves, in the end theyre still just a 600...

I am glad that you are still alive.
It's not that we aren't happy for you, it's just that most of us have heard or seen horrorible things about new riders jumping on literbikes. Just be careful and enjoy the ride. Don't be in too big of a hurry to lift the front wheel...
Post pics when you get the bike

That's because they can't ride a 600 to it's full potential.
The 1ks are awesome bikes, but the reason folks get bored on a 600 is because they only know how to roll on the throttle. They aren't pushing the bike anywhere else.
P.S. I was popping wheelies within two weeks of first getting on a sportbike(600). Riding them in three. Of course, i did grow up hardcore on dirtbikes, so i had a lot less respect for my machine than was proper.
