hey guys, im new to the forums and to riding. i picked up a 2000 CBR 600F4 with about 8k miles on it a little over a month ago. my problem is that the bike won't rev up past 9k rpm in any gear. i top at 115 because it won't go anymore. when i hit 9k i get this weird kind of ringing like sound and the bike starts to vibrate alot. i've asked some friends and some say it is a fuel problem, possibly dirty carb, or filters. others say it could be that my bike has a limiter on it or something like that. anyone know what the problem might be? any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sounds like detonation. May be too lean.

I would say clean the CARBS and if it doesnt work get a powercommander to fix the lean/rich mix

Sounds like the ignition timing is retarded. If it was mine, I would get out my old school timing light and see if the ignition is advancing correctly. If the timing is correct, I would check the spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, float level, and dirty piston/needle that is not rising all of the way out of the main jet.

Or maybe you filled up with regular gas and the engine is knocking.

Or maybe advanced, is it hard starting? Maybe combustion chamber deposits that create hot spots and raise compression. Are there points or electronic ignition? Points suck. Could the coil be breaking down.
The truth is I have no idea, I just felt like replying to a post. Good luck. After you get it fixed, post the solution, i'd be interested.

i put premium in it, which is 91 where i live. and as for starting, it usually starts just fine, idles kinda low when its first started in the morning, but after a few minutes, its fine. i can't leave the choke on for more than thirty seconds cuz then it just dies, is that normal or is that another problem i need to address? once i find the solution, i'll post it, let you guys know what it was.
