I saw this page about break in on another site. I don't think this has been posted here before.

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

This goes against everything I have ever read about engine break in. It is interesting, but I would let someone else try it on their bike first.

Any thoughts or opinions?

It sounds like it makes sense....the new bikes are so good that break in is relatively short

I don't buy a word of it. Who would you trust, the manufacturer that built yours and every other bike and has specialized in it from the beginning or some guy posting his mechanical opinion? I would trust Honda long before I would go by the opinion of this guy.

I DID SOME CHECKING AND A LOT OF GOOD SPEED SHOPS SAY TO DO A SHORT BREAK IN.AS FAR AS TRUSTING THE FACTORY I FOUND A WEB SITE TALKING ABOUT FACTORY OIL FILTERS AND HOW CRAPY THEY ARE AND HE GIVES ALT.OIL FILTERS TO US. I DONT TRUST EVERY THING I READ SO I PICKED UP A HONDA FILTERAND A FRAM FILTER FOR A MOTERCYCLE AND THE ALT. FILTERS FOR ATOMOTIVE USE. THE GUY WAS RIGHT TWO MOTERCYCLE FILTERS WERE MADE VERY POOR WITH PLASTIC OIL RELIVES.AND CARDBORED BACKING. THE ALT. FILTERS WERE ALL STEEL AND ABUOT 30% MORE FILTR MEDIA

A lot of crappy parts on stock bikes are either to pass emissions or to save on manufacturing costs. The break-in procedure is soley know-how and expertise. If they could save themselves money by telling you to break it in faster, they would. But they have ne benefit to telling you the wrong way to break in a new bike.
