Can your bike start with a different speedo??

Oh shitzel!!!! My bike can't start after I got myself a replacement speedo from ebay for my wrecked original!!..I dun tink the replacement speedo is faulty.I've checked with the Honda agent and they said there are 4 models..each with a different model of speedo. According to them..if a different speedo model is attached, you can't start!!

Oh God!!! Do anyone who anything bout this??? How do I overide this stupid unability to start my bike???

I guess the speedo is matched to the ECU for whatever area of the world it'll be sent to. That's the only reason I can think of for there to be 4 different types.

Not a clue as to any way around it though. Sorry. What exactly happens when you turn the key and hit the starter? I mean do the gauges cycle?
