did you loosen the black rubber bands on the bottom, that attach to the intake. If so then your  next move is get over the bike like your getting on and pull with some force, they kinda weld on. But becare ful not to pull extremely hard cause your throttle and choke cables still attached.

There are no bolts, but maybe you just said "bolts."

If you see the black hard rubber manifolds between the carbs and the head, there is a collar with a phillips screw on each side of the black rubber manifold, for a total of 8. You need to unscrew those phillips screws until the collars are loose on each manifold. That's it.

If they haven't been off in a while, it's gonna suck. Heat will help, either a hair dryer or (if you're VERY careful and know what you're doing) a small torch. Work the carb forward and back in the frame and try to pull up. Don't try to pry it or wedge it or anything, bcause if you crack that aluminum piece the airbox screws onto it's not a good thing.

Be patient, and try not to mess up your hands, and good luck!

EDIT. Maybe let's not use a torch right now.

Is the carb assemby moving at all when you rock it back and forth? You might try to spray something like PB blaster around the edges of the manifolds and let it soak for a while, maybe even overnight.

If you're absolutely positive you have everything loosened up, you could use a prybar or a broomstick, but that really increases your chances of messing something up. I don't wanna read in the paper about "Man killed in bizarre blowtorch-broomstick accident in garage."

The first time I got mine off it took an hour or so of rocking that assembly, and WD 40 and PB blaster and screwdrivers and busted knuckles.

You can also rock it forward, and then when you got it forward, grab a back corner and pull towards the front/opposite side of the bike. Push it forward, grab the rearward right side, for example, and pull up and towards the left.

Those rubber tubes go harder with age (like us all!) and grip to the carbs and cylinder head like crazy.  The tubes have an internal ridge that engages in a groove on the carbs and head so the tube has to swell a fair bit to get them off - so back the clamps right off to be sure that they aren't preventing the rubber swelling enough. Putting more pressure on one end of the row of carbs and wriggling them worked for me - eventually.  I also added a bit of encouragement by levering the outer rubber tube (either #1 or #4 - whichever side you are pulling on the carbs) gently with a wide bladed screwdriver, making sure not to damage the rubber.

Take care if you're levering on the rear bracket (the Al casting that screws to the intake of all 4 carbs) with the lever - it bends.  Personally I wouldn't recommend it.

Clean up the aluminum and the rubber, then put high temp silicon grease on the mating surfaces of the tubes when you reassemble.

Those ****** tubes were probably the hardest thing to get apart on the whole bike, so if you beat them, you've passed your initiation ceremony!  (I haven't pulled the bottom end apart yet, so I could be wrong, but done pretty much everything else.)

He's right. It's a pain in the a$$. But once you get them off and lube 'em up and get them soft again, it gets waaaaay easier.

In the last two days, I've been testing different main jets.  I found that the easiest way to remove the carbs was to actually concentrate on pulling from one side of the assembly.  Pulling from both sides was much harder.  Same idea putting them back in.  Try to get one side inside the boots then nudge the other side in as best as you can and wiggle.  Seemed to work best for me?
