I just got a 1999 900rr about 3 months ago, and when i crack on the throttle it wants to die on my sometimes. I think this is because the carbs need to be rejeted or cleaned. But, I was wondering if there were any other things that would cause this, any info would be greatly appreciated.

does the bike have an after market pipe on it?? if it does then it NEEDS to be re-jetted cause my yamaha raptor wouldnt get over 4,000 rpm before i put biger jets and after market air-filter. if its bone stock then try cleaning the air-filter before you rip apart the carbs cause believe when i say this, you will be very frustrated when all it was, was a dirty air-filter and you spent the entire day cleaning the carbs out!

thanks for the info. i bought the bike and it already had a yoshimura exhaust on it, i dont know if the guy that had it before me got it rejetted or not. do you know about how much it costs to get a bike rejetted? anyways thanks for the info.

well re-jetting a bike is somtimes like finding a needle in a hay stack.. luckaly jets arnt expensive... just be prepared to take the carbs on and off! start off by going two sizes up and see what that does and getting a K&N air filter because your stock air filter is choking the engine when you have a pipe on there..
