I had my first run in with a ZX-10 today. It started off as usual at the bike shop with guys talking smack bout who's is faster but this time it escalated to the Stoplight in front of the bike shop. The light goes green and it was onnnnnn like donkeyyyyy kong!!!! All I have heard since the ZX-10 came out was steer clear of them because of what a beast they are supposed to be. I have to say after today I have no fear of a ZX-10!!! We only went two blocks but we were side by side the whole way. Neither bike would either give or gain even an inch on the other so I guess I gotta chalk this one up to a draw but it sure as hell empty'ed out the bike shop of everyone inside to watch and what a hell of a show it was!!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZX10 is a great bike but like the ZX12 uncomfortable as hell. 1000RR is an AWESOME bike and is comfortable to ride. Great job representin dude!!

hmm, you must have been the braver rider. There's no way a cbr1000rr could have outpace a zx10r. either that or you had mods and he didnt. or he just had plain ol' bad mods! dont get me wrong, i'd take a cbr1krr over a kawi anyday, but numbers dont lie...

True but bikes vary due to different run in operations, the same model can have 2-10bhp differebce due to being treated to kindly during run in. I for one can state that i`ve raced to ZX-10`s at a track an trounced em both, although i do agree they are supposed to have more hp on paper, but its real life we`re talkin about,

I make that:

1000RR 3
ZX-10R 0

Along with mods come the size of the riders too. We have a guy in town that rides a Hayabusa but he has to be pushing 300lbs (not muscle either). You have to imagine what it looks like as the Hayabusa is sort of a blob bike and with that rider on top it looks silly.

Anyways, that is a lot of weight to overcome. So a lighter rider on a 1000K could probably beat a ZX-10 with a heavier rider given all other things equal.

Dont forget you maybe a more skilled rider then he is too. And a added bonus your bike looks 10 fold better then his could ever

Just to make sure that the other day wasnt a fluke, we went at it again today!!! Same race and SAME RESULT!!!! I pretty much ran through 4th and the same goes for him. The ZX-10 hangs but just dont have the balls to get around the CBR 1000rr. Maybe mines faster cause its the RepSol Edition....hehe???

Don't know where peeps get the idea that the 10 is the end-all shiz-nit. It was tremendously over hyped when it came out. Lot of the motojournalists have stepped back from all the BS they spouted when it was introduced. Why? Cause head to head on the track with competent riders the 10 is just one of four very fast liter bikes. If ever a cliche` was appropriate it'd be "you can't go wrong". R1, ZX10, GSXR or the 1000RR -- all damn fine bikes. Comes down to rider competence in any competition between them.

Backing down is not an option!

Truuuuu Dattt!!!! You really cant go wrong buying either of the 4, but it is always a blast to have a friendly rivelry between each of them. They all go plenty fast enough to get ya put in a box but ohhhhh how its soooooo fun pushing the envelope with them. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THe only way to eliminate rider differences when testing bikes is to have the same rider timed on each bike (like the journalists do) and in all of the tests I have read, the 10R is faster by a wide margin to the 1000RR (as is the R1 and R1000). Not trying to stir anything up here, I just wish Honda would step up to the plate and make a bike that truly IS faster than the competition for a change. We have a Honda/Kawi dealer here and getting on the 1000RR after the 10R feels like getting on a friggin tank! There is no question that the Honda is at least 20 lbs heavier and has 15 or so less hp.

It’s amazing how many people compare a couple of HP a few milliseconds in a ¼ mile 10MPH top speed. How many of you race your bikes for a living? How many of you race you bikes just to race them? Probably only a few here. Anyone that knows anything about riding will tell you that a good rider can take a 600cc bike and beat the hell out of any liter bike on the track with a rider that’s below him or her. How many people ride at top speed non stop? How many people here can take a corner at 125 MPH not many? I did it once and scared the crap out of me. The best bike in the world is the one you like and the one you are comfortable on. I own a 600RR and many rides there are people in front of me and there are people behind me on 1000’s its skill. Get the one that looks the best and you will be happy don’t get the one the sport bike mag says are the best because that’s there opinion. How do you know that the rider testing the bikes does not have a favorite company and is going to make sure that’s the one that comes out on top? The debate about what bike is better is getting to be real BS start debating who can ride better and start posting up your track times

I ride with guys who have all the top sports bikes and all the bikes are very close on the roads, there is not much difference at all. The track is where you get some sort off difference.

How about taking it to a road race track instead of this straight-line bullsh!t. Trained monkeys can go fast in a straight line.

what are you trying to say?

Sorry....I only understand monkey!!! I love people that think going straight is just such a breeze. I run a Top Alcohol Drag Bike that runs low 7's to high 6's at 230mph. Thats 0 to 230mph in less than 7 seconds there BadFish.........Any Monkey can turn left or turn right but can you go 0 to 230mph in less than 7 seconds BadFish and live to tell about it afterwards there BadFish??? Each type of riding has its own Pro's and Cons so don't bag on one or the other until you've mastered both.........Just my opinion!!!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

You're not doing 230mph on a bike so get off your high horse.

You're ragging on a ZX-10 because you've beaten it in a straight line. The fact is that you've proven nothing. These bikes, though "fast", weren't designed to fast in a straight line. They were designed to be cornered. The differences between all these bikes are so miniscule and most of the differences are when these bikes aren't in a upright position. So when there's nothing between your fairings and the road except your thigh, then you can talk your smack. The ZX-10 is an awesome bike (as is the 1000RR).

just my opinion.

Um, Repsolrider, if you are a professional drag bike racer then its pretty easy to imagine why you'd be able to hang with the ZX-10R. I mean, rider skill makes a big difference. Actually, the fact that you are only just as fast instead of faster probably proves that the 10R is the faster bike and that the difference is made up by your skill and experience.

Dudes, arguing on an internet board is like wearing saran wrap -- everybody can see your nuts I've only read one comparo article with all 4 bikes on a track with the same riders. They ran 'em at Willow and the R1 was fastest around the track but the Honda was rated best overall. The article was forever ago and I can't find it I do remember that there wasn't more than a second between all the bikes when stock. As far as straight line racing as compared to twisties -- apples and oranges. Lack of experience at either will make you look stoopid and there is definitely a lot of skill required for either discipline.

Fish you crack me up!!!! By No means am I a Professional Drag Racer and I never implied I was but I do run on a Semi-Pro Level Seris and have a history of doing very well. If you dont believe the 230mph I posted then thats your problem. I also never stated that I had outrun the ZX-10 either. I stated that I ran right next to him and neither bike would give up an inch.......You should read better before you open your trap! You guys turn something so simple into a debate like a bunch of politilcal buttholes seeking canidacy. Like I said before, each bike hs its own qualities as well as each type of riding. I like to go fast straight....You like to go through the twisties!!! SO WHAT!!! Just because someone doesent have your same interest doesen't make them any less of a person does it? So get over it and move onnnnnn! Its sunny outside and I'm am gonna ride than than talk about it so "Peace out Cracka!!!!" Everyone be safe!

I agree with chain why argue? The main differences between the bikes isnt the hp its the chasis, the 1000RR remains very civilised even at Real high speeds, the 10R however feels like your trying to tame a wild bull with a rocket up its arse. And this is why i have a 1000RR cos in the real world i want to wheelie when i choose to, not because the bike will when i open the throttle, i want confidence in those 125mph corners you mentioned not doubt.

+1......I did ride the Zx-10 before hand and I do have to agree with the Wild Bull Statement!!!!!!!!
