Does anybody know of Next Dimensions Chain and Cable Lube, and if so is it any good?  Is it safe on the rubber in the chain?  Thanks.

if it's chain and cable lube, you're using it on the wrong kind of chain.

use Honda Pro Chain Lubricant with White Graphite or another drive chain lubricant.

Alright, thanks.  I've been using gear lube like it says in the manual, but it makes a hell of a mess, after lubing, on the tire and farings.  I will go to my local shop and check out the Honda lube.

Try to find some parafin wax.  The stuff is awesome.  Smells like crayons and as long as you give your chain a quick warm-up ride, then apply it and let it sit for 15 minutes - NO MESS!  Just make sure you clean your chain really good before each application because it doesn't let much on or off the chain once it's there - if there's dirt there, it'll hold it on (dirt is bad, umkayy).

Pick up some PJ1 Blue label when you go to the shop, you won't regret it.

thanks for all the opinions.  I heard PJ1 is some good stuff, so i will probably go and pick some up.  As for the black chain, that is how mine was when i bought the bike.  I used some wd40 to clean the chain, but it still didnt get it all clean.  I dont have a rear stand so it took a bit longer than i wanted it to.

wd40 is bad for o rings (which your chain has a lot of). I would rec. simple green or a similar cleaner

I don't want to start the whole WD-40 debate here, but Simple Green?

You think Simple Green is a better solution than WD-40?
Do you rinse it off with water after too?

Yeah i have heard of using simple green before, but wont it lather up?  I know PJ1 makes a chain cleaner too, so maybe i will buy something made for cleaning chains with o-rings.

I use Moose chain cleaner and PJ1 black label.  Both are made for "O" chains so there is no guessing what is safe and not safe.  Clean and lube every 500 miles and have zero issues with either.
