I DONT REALLY KNOW FOR SURE, BUT IT PUTS A LOT OF EXTRA STRAIN ON THE CHAIN. MEANING THAT IT WILL HAVE A MUCH SHORTER LIFE. PERHAPS IT WOULD BREAK FROM THE PRESSURE, NO CLUE. ALSO IT DOESNT HAVE THE ROOM IT NEEDS FOR YOUR REAR SUSPENSION TO WORK... I DONT THINK.
TAKE IT EASY,

What type of bike do you have? First look in the manual and see what the specs are? If the chain is too tight you can begin to damage sprockets, reduce chain life, and depending on the riding this can lock up your rear suspension travel. In a very fast turn this could mean bad news for you.

General rule is between 1" and 1 1/2" of slack -- RTFM for bike specific info. As to what could happen ... first you'll notice a clicking noise that does not go away -- at this point the chain is pretty much fried. The chain will stretch unevenly and can make a slapping noise. Worst case is you hit a bump and the suspension tightens up and the chain snaps and takes out your cases.

it can also put excessive pressure on the final drive oil seals resulting in a very messy repair job.
