Police force in my area has come up with a new way to nab speeders. Instead of the regular van sitting on the side of the road they have installed a photo radar unit in a garbage can and they stick it next to a road to nab speeders. Theres also another system they just put out and its a Power box look-a-like with photo radar inside. Beware, you never know what they will come up with next!

I was under the impression that the police had to be hidden in plain site or in some way that you can tell that you're being watched by the cops.

I read the article about this in Canada.... looks like the trash can would become a target. If I noticed one, the big plastic window kinda sticks out and trash is only one day a week.... I'd have to double back on foot, at night and have some fun.

In Virginia, cops have no rules.... they can hide anywhere and sit without any lights at all. There are no entrapment laws here.

Wonder if they put a LoJack in it

LoJack would have to be water proof and withstand pressure of 400 ft under water for it to work with me.

Here's another kick in the nuts if you live in my area.

A photo radar camera installed in what looks like a power transformer box is wheeled away from yesterday's press conference.

In Florida this is true. If they're hidden from veiw it's called intrapment. I know of a few people that have gone to court and had it dismissed.

Cops hiding in the dark is entrapment. They are suppose to be preventative...not reactive, oh my bad, they have to meet their quota.

Yea, but has the house of representitives in your state aproved it? We have a town in Rhode Island that tried to do the same thing within the Mayor's office but wasn't aproved by the house. So, there are fighting it. Remember it's the law makers that make the laws, police just enforces them.

They can actually get away with this crap? If so then we should start with the jamming devices n really pee em off.

Around here they sit in a van on the side of the street and click the photo as you go by. They also have signs posted up and down the street from the post stating that photo radar is in use. I wonder, is anyone sitting nearby to monitor the trash-can-radar? If not, it seems they would be targets for sure. Just sneak around the back of the thing and disable it with some black spray paint on the lens!
