Cleaning the bike...what to use?

So what do you use to clean the fairings and what not??? I'm not talking about the chain, thats a whole different story. I was thinking Pledge (household polish) as a shiner upper after its been wiped clean

??? Helps the shine and makes it easier to remove bugs and road grime later. In aviation some pilots put pledge on the windshield for the reason stated above, just carrying it over. But, a part of my brain is saying WTF...Pledge??? I know, sounds dumb...

i use something that people refer to as Honda polish, but on the spray can it's actually called Original Spray Cleaner and Polish. it comes in a spray can that is primarily black and the "Spray Cleaner and Polish" is written in a pinkish red. it seems to work pretty well, imo.

i use the 'honda polish' too, but as mentioned above it doesnt say that... i think it used to. the dealer should know what you want if you say that and its got the pink writing can.

Honda Polish all the way....
When my wheels/fairings get grimey w/road grease, I'll hose it down and spray some Simple Green all over the nasty spots. Let it sit for a minute or two, rinse it off and finalize it with Honda Polish.

I'll say this as I only know how.............
HONDA POLISH ROCKS Seriously, it's amazing. If you are going to wash it, I use dish-soap in a bucket to wash all the grime and whatnot off (like I ever let it get dirty

), then I spray a thin film of Honda Polish over the entire bike, rub it in quickly with one microfiber cloth, then take another microfiber cloth and buff it to it's glorious Foxy shine.
But that's just my two cents (only worth a measly $54,360 due to recent economic situations

)

I use windex a lot, it seems to do a good job at getting bugs and whatnot off. For the rims when they get grime I just get some wheel cleaner from Wal-Mart and never use a hose to spray it off or else it'll get water places you don't want.

You can always do the hose/ car soap/bike soap / water if you have time
if you u just want a quick shine, I used to Love the Honda spray cleaner Polish (if you can find it)
but Plexxus works very well,
Don't use regular dish soap, it'll eventually eat away your clearcoat/shine from your paint/fairings, make sure it's an actual car or motorcycle wash.
Good luck and GO HONDA!

Where can you find Plexus? I looked them up and you can order from them, but can only get six packs or more. They dont list any places to buy from. I think I will try the Honda stuff, but in case I cant get it I will try the Plexus. And, just as soon as the bike is clean I will post pics of what I've done so far.
Thanks everyone!

Bucket, sponge, auto shampoo.
Turtle wax, and high gloss. And elbow grease. Not only looks good, leaves a decent protective layer on the paint which stops it fading, and easier to wash off the shit next time round.

Believe it or not... I've heard of some people using Pledge and swear it's the way to go. I have not tried this. But, I may give it a shot.

I use windex or some glass cleaner(which is the same thing as windex) and it works wonders, Sometimes I'll get a wet paper towel and wipe down the whole bike then use a dry one to dry it down.

+1 for Plexus, After you wash it with Plexus get some wax and wax the bike! Warning: you may slip off the bike, but it looks very sexy.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If you really want your baby to shine, use the Maguire's 3-step Wax treatment..........followed by #7 polish. It takes a few hours of tough elbow grease...........and DAMN did it make my previous 06 SHINE! (Have yet to do it to my 07)

While the I'm sure the bike is "Shiny" there is certainly a lot of enhancement in the photo. Such as... look how shiny the leaves are on that tree. And the bark on the tree looks a bit enhanced too. It's amazing what you can do with pic's these days.

Mr Clean. no water spots. That's if washing.
Polishing the honda stuff is pretty good but the yamaha stuff is better and plexus is great.
I use to only use the cleaners and never wet washed it with water. But now i notice salt build up on some of the nuts and bolts. A friend of mine washes his like he washes cars and he does not have this residue looking crap on some of his nicks and crannies so I am going to start washing with water.
