Has anyone swapped the tail light for the clear alternative integrated one? Freaking love it. $85 shipped on eBay, less than a week to receive and very easy to install. I tired taking pictures of the process, but my flash caused most of the pics to white out. Stupid me. I did get a good before and after shot. The light is actually brighter than stock and the fast flash doesn't bother me at all. It has resisters in the kit (really cheap heavy ones) but they don't slow it down much at all. I just left it as is and it's not really that fast. We'll have to see how it works after I put my flush mount LEDs on the front (using less voltage might cause them to flash faster). The install couldn't be easier... highly recommend it. The picture doesn't do it any justice...

I'm still using my hand made plate bracket... I don't know what I'm going to do when I install my RS5. I really want to take off everything so it's open... but I have to figure out how to make a different one. I have access to a sheet metal shop and could not live with myself if I paid $150 for a freaking bracket. Just seems really high to me for what it is. I mean it is just metal and not much of it... $50 would be high in my opinion.

I also took the red reflectors off the side… watch out, I’m becoming quite the rebel. I just thought about it… my state inspection runs out after I move to f*** em. I’ll update my gallery and post a thread with better pics once I have a few mods finished.

yeah i know what you mean don... the CW kit is pretty $$. i've been looking to get it for about 3 months now. i've looked at many other models... even thought about getting the CA integrated lights and buying a swing arm mount for the plate. but i recently got rid of one of my helmets and used that money towards the CW kit :) also, recently saw the CW installed on a 600rr in person and it looked GOOD. i'll be sure to post rear-end pics of my bike... before & after... stay tuned.

hey don check out my webshots, i made a custom license plate bracket to fit my rs5 exhaust and it cleans it up really well.. you only see the license plate no bracket visible.. let me know what you think! http://community.webshots.com/album/541775987JdLIXP

Hey don.....remember those little metal brackets that the rear reflectors mounted on? Well, put them back on backwards so that they angle underneath, then take a pair of vise grips and bend the bottoms of them 90 degrees so that they are perpendicular to the bike and parallel with each other...the holes will actually be close enough to mount your license plate on them.

Just a cheap way to use what you've got.

Nice.... this is the way I like to see the forum working. Great tips guys.

manningr2, I've already posted in your other thread praising your pictures/work of your bike and mods. Love it. I also asked a few questions so go answer them when you have time.

isolated1523, that sounds like a great idea. I will keep it in mind if I don't/can't use manningr2's method. I need to keep a license plate light and I'm not sure if I can make one work with his setup. Using the reflector brackets like you said, I can hide the wiring around it and keep it away from the exhaust.

cbr04, I thought about the swing arm mount, but again... license plate light kills it for me. I have to have one and I will not do anything that leaves wires exposed more than they have to be. I know the CW kit looks good and I hope I don't sound cheap... but come on... $150, $50 maybe, but hell no to $150. Look at what they have in the product.

I work around a machine shop and can pick up scrap metal (aluminum or stainless) and make it for next to nothing. All I'd have to buy is the hinge and roller they use to make it swing up. If someone has close up pictures of it that I can use as a template... I might be able to make a few of them.

not being cheap don... just being practical. i got it cuz it's something i wanted for a while... simple as that. when i get it i'll take close ups of it.. both on and off the bike. if you could make something similar for less $$... i'm sure a few guys on here would be interested

Hey Don.... I dropped you an email asking about your taillight you put in...... (no responce) SO I thought I would ask you on here...
Was it pretty much unplug and remove to plug and replace the tail light and blinkers.. Or did you have to splice it in?? I want one if its easy as un plug
to plug.....

Let me know...... THANKS!

WTF... sorry dude. Gotta love email. I replied back with a long ass email and ever sent you a picture showing you....

You can see the plug, it's about the same as the stock one. It's not perfect, but it does work. Then you have two yellow wires to connect to the blue (right signal) and orange (left signal) wires. Very simple to do.

Forgot to mention: The white resistors you see in the bag... junk. If you read the warning on them... they get as hot as the light bulb normally did and will melt plastic. I tested them and they did not slow down the flash much at all. All you need is the flasher relay out of a car. Go to any auto part store to buy one for about $15, or if that's too much for you... go shopping at a salvage yard and pull a few out from under the dash. I don't have anything on mine right now. The flash isn't that fast, but when I put my hotbodies LED flush mounts on the front... I'll bet it will be too fast. I'll probably go and pick up the signal flasher relay for a car and use it.

I've had a couple requests as to where I bought the tail light from. $84.95 with free shipping and it took less than a week. You know how eBay is and I do not know this seller, but I had luck with him.

Here's one of his auctions for the 600RR and 100RR, same light.

And here is his store so when that link runs out.

You're paying someone else to have all of your fun??? That's half the fun of the sport is to do-it-yourself.

Looks good Don! I got the same light on mine. And I don't think you're cheap for not wanting to spend $150 on a fender kit. The 600RR looks almost identical to the 1000RR which was easy to chop. I just ordered the LED tag bolts and tag bracket on e-bay. Costed like $30 to my door. You can't see it unless you put your head under the exhaust -- and when I'm hauling a$$ not too many peeps can do that. I even got creative and put some of that corrugated plastic wire cover thingy on it. Took a ziz wheel and cut the metal bracket and cut the ugly brown plastic thing (painted the ugly brown plastic thing black).

I can't help it... I was trying to help others out by finding a better deal. Here are a couple pics of my process. I'm doing the prototype thing until I'm sure of what I'm going with. This doesn't look bad at all to me now. I used a 6" Stainless Steel hose clamp (Lowes $3.00) and modified the aluminum plate I already made. Also picked up a plate light from auto zone for about $5 and I also bought thermal sleeving by Mr. Gasket. Was on sale for 19.99, normally 29.99... and it claims to withstand 1200 F continuous and 2000 F peak. I used this on the wiring for the plate light and since I removed all of the heat shields... I used it on the wires for the rear break since the wires run really close to the exhaust.

Here's the pics of what I've done so far... I'll continue to post as I go. Sorry pics are dark... will do better on the next ones.

When's the new exhaust coming? It'll be sho-nuf fine when ya get it all together. Heck, it looks really good now. Just keep a keen eye on your plastic bits directly above the exhaust and make sure they don't get too hot with no shielding.

I don't have any shielding on my and its been OK for the past 1000 miles or so.....

I'm only doing trips to school and work... like 15 20 minutes tops right now. My new exhaust will be all carbon so I don't have to worry about the heat on the tail. I did how ever remove all of the heat shielding, all of it. I used the thermal sleeving on my wires for the plate light and my rear breaks. Here's a couple more pics in day light.

no1biscuit.. are you serious? I listed everything you need to do it, but the sheet metal is the only thing you'll have to do any work on. I will be making a new one for mine when I install the new exhaust just to clean it up. I can help you out with what ever you need. If you need me to, I'd piece together and ship what ever you need... just have to work out the funding details. It's all cheap. The sheet metal will be scrap from work.... thank you tax payers. You'd be amazed at how much metal is junked where I work at... But anyways... PM if you need anything.

Now.... for the pics in day light. The blue sleeving is rated at 1200 continuous and 2000 peak.
