there is alot of play in my clutch lever it developed a little a while ago which i figured was probably normal on a new bike i adjusted it and it stayed fine then i let someone ride it and then it started getting that play in it again, does the play in the clutch lever mean the clutch is wearing?

wow you let someone ride your baby? I never let anyone ride mine. As for your clutch, I don't have alot of advice for you, but I have had my bike for over 2 years now and have never had to adjust mine. I have 8800 miles on it and got it at 3800 miles. Do you ride hard and shift hard? Maybe its time for a new clutch or just a simple re-adjusting.

it was my dad that rode it and he rode bikes for years and he tought me everything i know about cars and bikes so i dont think he wore the clutch and he is the only person i will let ride my bike or drive my car lol but yea i thought it was weird that there was play in the lever and i dont ride it hard

no problem at all mine gets loose all the time there is this screw ontop that comes loose all the time i have to tighten...Also check the screw coming out of the lever its just the cable loosening up...

Its normal dont worry, just make sure there is some free play at lever---if your clutch is worn it will either slip or the biting point will be close to end of the lever travel--ive had to adjust mine regularly--check that the knurled lock ring is not loose because viration will cause it to de-adjust--happy riding m8

cool thanks everyone it was just a tiny adjustment to fix the play in the lever i just wanted to make sure mine wasnt the only one

I had the same thoughts cross my mind regarding the play in the clutch lever. Checked my shop manual which stated 10-20mm travel is nominal (06 F4I).
Seemes like a lot of travel to me, for at least what I'm used to. Perhaps it's a larger buffer for their choice of cable routing??? Although I am enjoying the closer friction zone, especially in stop and go traffic.

wow that does sound like alot of travel and of course i didnt check my manual before i asked lol
