Hey guys,
Last night was on my way home and all of a sudden on my 1987 hurricane 600f, my clutch lever just gave out and now I can't shift gears at all...(obviously). It's still attached, but there's no tension for the lever to be pulled in in order to switch gears...
Just wanted to know how to replace it or repair it... cost? parts needed? I have the manual... I'm pretty knowledgeable about my bike - I've changed the oil, replaced my tires, just have no type of experience when it comes to clutches.
Any advice would be appreciated....This forum has already helped me out alot.
Thanks in advance,
Ollie

+1 the cable probably broke. If you can get the cable undone up by the lever, see if you can pull on it. If the actual cable comes apart and you can pull it out of the (jacket), it broke.
It's pretty simple to put a new one on. If you know how to take your back wheel off or adjust your chain, you could totally replace the clutch cable in 5 minutes.

It is an easy fix. Just buy a new cable and its self exlpanetory as to how it goes on.

+1 just buy a new cable, I bet shops might even have them in stock. Put the new one on and route it the same way the old one is. Use the little bracket that's on the old cable down by the right side engine cover. Adjust it all the way loose on both ends and slowly tighten on each end until it feels right and pulls the clutch lever on the engine. It's pretty self explanatory. You should adjust it so the lever on the engine is right at the start of its throw, and so there's a little bit of slack up top by your left hand.

Yep, simple as disconnecting it from the bracket on the handlebar, and then down by the right engine cover. Install in reverse steps. Its pretty obvious how to do it. If you have a manual, just read the steps over real quick.
I had the same thing happen to me about a year and a half ago and I made the mistake of stopping to see what went wrong. DOH!

Thanks guys, It was really easy! Had a little problem adjusting the tension, but finally got it, took me a couple of minutes altogether...
Thanks again...
