Well its getting about that time to put the bike up for the winter... But I just can not seem to do it, I live in Cincinnati Ohio and its just getting colder and colder. I ride when it prett darn cold out but when it get below 40 I just cant seem to do it, and the ride gets unjoyable. But I am having the problem of putting her up for the winter. Its supposed to be in the upper 30's tomorrow morning and 65 in the afternoon and I think im gonna bear it out, but I dont know how long I can do it. Just seeing what is to cold for you guys and how low the temps get before you say its enough!

If I can avoid riding at 35 or less, I do. My schedule is a little more... forgiving with school and all. I really only get up in the mornings to go work out or get homework done... so I drive when it's really cold. But when it warms up a bit, I'm out there. Don't give up on the season just yet. I'm hearing a lot of people getting this 'throw in the towel' attitude and it's just not justified yet. Dress in layers for the morning/evening and enjoy these next few days of sun here in the midwest. It may be cold at night, but you won't be sweating in the middle of the day either. Perfect weather.

hook you up a cigarette lighter and buy you a heated suit .. plug your self in .. it can be done :) i knew some guys on gstwins.com that did it to there little 500's and then in the summer you could use it as a phone charger or a hook up for a radar dector .. or any thing that uses that type of plug :)

In Oklahoma it's been cold in the mornings too... but I second the layering up. In the cold, I ride more for the challenge, and the enjoyment I get out of the "Holly CRAP it's cold... whew... okay... I can do this... gogogo!"... I don't know... I'm weird like that. That... and I'd MUCH rather be cold than hot anyday.

There is slot of places you can get battery operated heated suits, so if ya wanna ride it can be done. Myself, when it goes below 55 Its in the garage other than periodic rides to stir up the gas & oil....

This ideal where I live. It rarely rains and perfect 70 to 80's year round. Traffic is about the only downside.

Yea im sure its real nice having 70-80 degree weather all year.. I think Ohio has the worst seasons ever. One day it will be a high of 90 and then the next its 20 and im not even joking..

Yeah, up in MA it's getting pretty chilly. 30's in the early morning is pretty bad. . .but I've been doing it in the morning this week 'cause the truck is in the shop. Ya, and I've got a 45 minute commute.
I just bundle up the turtle fur around the neck, put a fleece over the shirt and tie, then put on the leather jacket over everything. I have flannels/long underwear on under my dress pants, and Gore Tex gloves, it's nice and toasty inside. Might have to look into that cigarette lighter adapter though. . .heated clothing sounds nice.

There are all types of nice twisties just north of where I live and a lot of flat land straitaways headin up to the country. I love every minute of it. You can be in the country and 15minutes later back at the beach!!!

Hmmmmm,
As far as riding/commutting to work, I'll ride one way about 0c if the other way is above 10c. As far as going for a ride outa the city, usually somewhere between 10-15c makes it worth while...... Those days a few a far between though now, by the time it warms up it's about 1430-1500, then cools around 1700-1800. Making the highway twisty trips just about over.... That said we still have the chinook days up here where the temp can go up anywhere from a 10c degree jump up to a 25-30c degree jump over night.

Wisconsin is the worst place in the world for riders. It's already been in the 20's here.

I am not an advocate of "putting them up for the winter". Only thing I would recommend is to put it on a battery tender. There have GOT to be days here and there where it is nice enough to ride, even if it's only 30 degrees or so. Go to Wally World and get a snow suit or something like that and it makes a world of difference. I use a First Gear Thermo suit and it does great down to 10 degrees or so.

Just rode the bike home from work--38 degrees, and pouring rain! It was 34 this morning, but it wasn't raining when I left the house. . .

I've been home approx 20 minutes now. I left my buddies house and rode home at night when it was approx. 40 out for approximately 45 minutes. My legs still have not warmed up and I'm wrapped in a blanket. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Yeah, but MI only had approx 1 week total this summer of days where it was hot enough to be considered un-rideable and I don't believe we broke 100. How does Texas do in that category?

If you love the sport, you deal with it.

Yea I ride everyday as long as it isnt raining. Being cold sucks but I use the exhaust as a heater for my hands at stops and my legs usually dont get cold as all. I just duck behind the little windscreen and deal with it. Im glad to know im not the only one riding out there when its this cold
