cold natured

my bike takes a while to warm uo but damn it runs great when warmed up. my temp gauge is just over the mark in the gauge is that the norm? moe it is 45 to 55 when when i was riding today

Sounds like your thermostat is not closing all the way.  Should read middle of the gauge when warmed up.

i thought about that althought the outside temp was less than 50 im glad its not the otherway

anyone riding through the winter? how long does it take your bike to warm up?

i wait till the exhuast clears, usually takes less than 5 minutes. i start the bike and then get my gear on, pack my bags and whatnot. by the time i get outside, bike is warmed up.
 
 

As long as there isn't snow on the ground I've been riding down into the low teens so far.  Have yet to take a day off because it's too cold.
 
Warm up time, kinda depends on how hard I choke the bike.  If I let it run pretty rich for 1 minute and then about half choke for 2-3 minutes that is usually plenty of time down to about 20 degrees F.  Below that I give it an extra minute at half choke.

I took a ride to work the other day @ 28 degrees. The bike never warmed up. The temp needle stayed on cold. The bike would puke when it was not choked. So I ran the choke about 3/4 most of the time. My question is, do these things have a thermostat? If so, mine must not be working. No shock there, it still has the original coolant in it. I think I will drain it and take a look at the thermostat. Oh yeah, and put in some fresh coolant.

mine has gotten better for some reason might be that it sat for a while and getting run in. i was told to use honda anti freeze it has a special additive
