South America uses PARE signs.

Portugal if Europe or Brazil, I think most other South American countries speak spanish...'Alto' is usually 'stop'.

"Pare" also means stop, and is what they use on spanish speaking countries for their stop signs. More accurately, "Alto" means halt, or high, depending on the context.
