cracked windshield question

ok, i got pulled over today for a crack in my windshield. its literally all the way at the bottom of the windshield and completely OUT of my line of vision. but i was pulled over and ticketed for it (inspection ticket). my question is this, how much trouble would i be in IF i were to get the ticket signed and mailed in, w/o getting the windshield fixed?
i got a crack in it before and had the windshield replaced and i kid you not, less than two weeks later a rock cracked it once again so i said **** it, im leaving it. its out of my line of vision, so oh well.
i dont feel like shelling out the $200 right now b/c i have other things i could be doing w/ that money.

AAahhhhh, hahahaha, Yea, that does suck, You can go to a salvage place, but then you will have to have someone put it in. How much would a ticket be compared to the windshield? I would just go ahead and fix it, but thats just me. You could always put a decal over it

Dam! I've never heard of gettin a ticket for a cracked windshield. Every other vehicle I see has them.

Ah shit...I was getting ready to sell you my stock windscreen for shipping plus a few bucks. Nevermind, glass is spendy. I haven't heard of someone getting pulled over for a crack in the window before. What the hell?

I'd see a judge about it. Who doesnt have some sort of crack on their windsheilds? Cops have them, judges have them, people have them.

It is illegal though, but it has to be a certain lenght before its considered dangerous.

For an inspection sticker it kinda depends where you take your car. Some places are strict, some arent. Atleast thats what I find around here. Legally your suppose to fix it if possible or replace the glass in VA.
JonBrown that crack is HUGE !!

well, the windshield covered through my insurance w/ my deductible is $100. so im having it replaced on monday. dont get me wrong, like im crying about SPENDING the $100, its the fact that whenever i replace a windshield, it usually gets smacked by a rock days later and i get PISSED!!!! so i stopped replacing them as of this past windshield. and what happened, somebody got bored and pulled me over for it. no this isnt some "**** the cop, piece of shit piggy, go get some doughnuts and leave me alone" rant, but he had to have been trying desperatly to find something on my truck to ticket me for. i've had MANY MANY cops notice the crack and say jack shit, but oh well. when he pulled me over i had no freaking clue why, then when he asked the usual question upon getting to my door, i replied "nooooo sir!".
wow, its nice to know that apperantly MD is the only state that does this dumb shit! i have bad luck w/ windshields so this tends to PISS ME OFF! i'll post a pic up of the crack in a bit.

Wow!! Just a regular bullseye with tracers. I would have told the cop to shove the ticket up his ass. I'm going to the judge right now.

why do they always try and get u a ticket on ur truck? its not like you have illegally tinted windows. or a sound system thats illegal or....other things.

In Florida driving with a cracked windshield is illegal and size does not matter. You can be stopped if the crack is the whole width of the windshield or only 10".

Amazing!!! When I was living in Oregon I never drove a car that didn't have a cracked window. This is petty...

Yep cops and their STATE mandated "low treasury" ticketing sucks. I've driven for years in MN and been pulled over for many reasons WHILE having crack windshield but never gotten a ticket for cracked windshields before too. Got an advice or two though that I should get it fix from a copper.

Take pics of it getting installed and mark the date. If it cracks less than a year and you get pulled over I'd show the judge. Hell, I'd drive around and take pics of vehicles with cracked windshields (dont show the license plate) just to show how many there are.
