I recently saw a few bikes with their exhaust cut down. Looks very nice. Has anyone tried this and what are the results. More horsepower? Deeper sound? Can you do this with a carbon fiber exhaust?

I've never thought of myself as a brain.... so maybe that's why I fall for this reasoning. It's an after market performance exhaust. Not stock so it's not limited to manufactures restrictions on sound. So... someone with a lot more college degrees than I have designed it, tested it and is now selling it. If their product caused a performance loose... every magazine out there would have dyno runs proving it. Now, if you would have any gains from cutting it in half, they would sell it that way for a higher price, new and improved line.

But maybe I’m just paranoid… that’s what my shrink keeps telling me when I tell him my theories about my dentist putting tiny transistor radios in my fillings so the RIAA and other copy right advocates can listen to me talk about file sharing….

They do sell shorter exhaust now. Maybe its just for the looks.

i thoguht the cut exhaust was usually used by the stunters. thats what ive noticeced so when they are doing 12's etc. the pipe won't scrape the ground. . . .it gets way louder too

Traitorhound hit the nail on the head I hit my pipe once I didn’t even know I was that high in a wheelie and slam there it was and I went down when I hit the pipe I put a crimp in it so I cut about 5 inches out of it to get rid of the crimp then re riveted the ends back on sounds awesome its like a mellow D&D almost like a 1000cc at least that’s what every one ells says. Ill try to take a pic tomorrow its like 1:30 now and im beat.

Other then the new 2006 bikes, I havent really seen anyone cutting down the Muffler. I have seen alot of people cutting down the pipe though, because they are stunters, which I will have to do with mine also. I put a 12'o clock bar on the bike and the exhaust hits before the Bar does.
