So I was supposed to fly down today and go there over the weekend with my brother,
BUT NO, I couldn't get coverage at work!
Watching it on YouTube is just a lil' self-salting for the wound...
Check this out, these boys can ride!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y-1EN-LMHb4 1:40 is a little scary.

1.That trucker needs to find a different friggin highway.
2. Whoever theat first postor was on You Tube needs to be out of uniform, and
in possession of my address.
3. The hghways and roads of this country were paid for by mine and your tax dollars.
That means we own the roads.
Cops should be there to make sure some idiot is not out endangering others on EVERYONE's roads, not trying to make like he's some school teacher handing out gold stars for extra recess time as a "priviledge".
I pay your salary pal.

Whatever came about with all this anyway?

So I'm
working today and of course I got the message from my brother... "Deals Gap is great, wish you were here, blah, blah, blah." Ugh.

That sucks dude... but it will only make it sweeter when you get down there.

2 months later...
Booked the flight. Heading to the Gap this weekend for the first time.......

(Will be riding my brother's other bike, a Suzuki Intruder --- not exactly a canyon carver, haha! Who cares?! Can't wait!)

So I didn't exactly slay the Dragon, I would say I survived it.
Going from the CBR to a big Suzuki cruiser was a challenge and I never really got used to the alarming sound of the footboards scraping the concrete! Plus there were quite a few distractions, e.g., checking out other bikes, cops, photographers, shadows, and of course plenty of scenery.
Anyway I'm happy to report that Deals Gap is a great place that lives up to the hype and the Cherohala Skyway was freakin' sweet too. For as long as I ride, I probably won't find better roads with less traffic than I did down in that area. I can't wait to go back someday.

The only thing taming the the beast is the 6 to 10 LEO cars on the dragon. In all fairness, we did pass a few of them at about 40ish (all of the dragon is 30 mph) and they didn't touch us. One of our guys went ahead to take a little video of us going by so he was all alone and the Sherriff even admitted it to him, he was pulled over because he was "not in a group". They wrote him up for improper license plate mount and not having his license on him. He left his wallet in the truck and he has a swing arm mounted plate. That doesn't fly in TN. We went back looking for him and he waved as we went by, so the officer asked if we were his group. After he said yes, he told him to warn me about my competition werks license plate. He would have pulled me over if I was alone. Take it for what it is... but don't go at it alone.

I'm heading down to deal's gap from Mississauga, Ontario this spring. If anyone is from Ontario or wants to meet me on the way down just let me know. I am thinking either April or early May.
Here's the route to know if you're along the way:

Im there Nov 2-4. What is the general consenses on the speed limit. I know its posted as 30 but no one obeys that. If I stay 40 or below will i be ok? 30 is so hard to do without weaving back and forth between the reflectors or some other way to entertain yourself.
