Hey guys i think this bike was kinda neglected by the previous owner, and a little by me. There is a lot of grease, mostly chain lube around the kick stand, shift pedal, swingarm. I think i put too much chain lube on there too. I always clean off the fairing after lubing but it keeps depositing.

I want to take off the chain, kickstand, front sprocket cover and clean the bike. How do i clean all that grease. I tried just some degreaser/cleaner from autozone but that grease just pointed and laughed at me.

Is there any super-duper grease remover, something so strong that eats a hole in the ozone layer when i open the bottle. I want to bow down in awe at its degreasing ability. . What realy good at just melting grease off the bike.

By the way, the chain is positioned in such a way that i noticed this, never saw this before

That links looks different, did something fall off of it? I looked, its the only one like that.

Thanx for your help.

don't worry about that link...it's the master link that's been riveted in so it's fine.
as far as chain lube...try belray, it goes on clear, turns white and very little fling.
to clean the stuff off, you can use kerosene or chain cleaner...kerosene is cheaper but chain cleaner, like motul, belray, any brand actually, eats it up like a mawfaki.

also, take off the front sprocket cover...i bet there's TONS of crap in there.

good luck mang.
also, when you lube, lube when your chain is warm...and then spray on, wipe off excess. i just get a rag and run it along the chain real quick.

I used Simple Green to clean some of the grease that builds up on the swing arm. Cleans it right up and gives it the bike a nice odor. :p

SuperClean is corrosive and can eat at your paint. There is another alternative called Oil Eater which is biodegradable and work very well.

Thanx for your help on the degreaser yawl.

It seems that the master link kinda kinks, its not totally seised, you can move it but its hard. Olso i adjusted the chain not too long ago but now it seems it has too much free play doesn't it? The bike is just idling in first gear and it seems that chain moves way too much. Immagine that bad boy at 80mph on the highway.

Take a look at this short video. here

what I would use is some carb cleaner, but watch paint with it. That stuff will take care of ANY grease or grime, I bet ya!

I use Simple Green not the automotiveSimple Green just the regular and dont use carb cleaner or brake cleaner cause if you do then the o rings will be gone wd-40 works great first soak it with simple green then hit it with some WD then take a brush not a steel one a plastic bristles and run the chain around forward and backward and repeat till clean, just my .98 cents shy of a dollars worth.

Any of the stuff mentioned already works real well, but I've also used the Suzuki degreaser and it works extremely well! Most of the time though I just use either WD-40 or Honda cleaner & polish to clean the chain lube and other greasy crap off the fairings and painted stuff, and regular metal I just use brake cleaner
