Does anybody carry when they ride?
Where do you keep your gun?
I have glock that I plan to carry when I get my bike next month and a licence for it. I just want to know what you guys do when you ride.
Thanks

Jackass-rig works good, under the jacket.

i know of a few guys who carry when they ride. they store under the passenger seat (not RR's).

brad, being 6'6 i don't suppose too many people mess with you...

I've wondered about that. I'm a firearms buff, but don't bother carrying. If I were to go over, that sidearm would cause some serious broken ribs if I landed on it. Then there's no room under the seat and you couldn't really get to it quick enough if a problem were to arise. I guess a tank bag would be a good solution.

I rode with mine in my front pocket. It had a bianchi sure fit holster and never moved around and it was my glock 21. But if i was going on a dedicated ride i wouldnt carry only if i was just driving around town on it.

I have been in a few situations where I seriously considered bringing it and or keeping it on the bike. But the more I thought about it, the more I was thinking its never a good idea to pull it unless u plan to follow through...and the way the law works, at least in Il...the person with the gun is always automaticly guilty no matter if you were being robbed or whatever. That being said I just leave mine in my desk in the event of a disgruntled employee lol

I carry a 9mm Taurus 24/7 4" with me most of the time. I use an inside the pants holster and carry in the small of my back or on my right side. It becomes visible most of the time, but that's ok. Most of the public assume people that carry guns are bad and stay away from you while you are riding. Its funny how many riders are hit because people never see them, but everyone notices the ones that are packing.

I'd never carry a gun on a bike, not only is it going to break your ribs or worse in a crash but I can't see of a situation where I'd need it. I'm not stupid enough to go tooling around the ghetto so I can get robbed (and I'd carry a knife if I was worried about that) and in a traffic confrontation, just taking off is always going to give you the best results.

I carry mine every now and then. Depends on the situation. Doesn't necessarily have to be because I'm riding through a bad neighborhood... which happens on occasion. For instance, I carry when I'm on a long trip and have the risk of being stranded somewhere. Never know what kind of trouble might arise.

I've actually got a pocket on the back side of my Alpinestars jacket so I normally throw it in there. Other than that I'll put it in my tank bag - very easy access! But I think that if you're gonna carry, it's not wise to have it under the rear seat (as was stated earlier)... you'd never get to it if you needed it in a hurry.

Well i was wondering when this post might surface..i own 2 pieces of Springfield hardware that stay at home locked in a safe ..where i feel they belong.By carrying a weapon on a motorcycle we automatically give the public a reason to hate us more than they do and since we cant conceal carry in Illinois..its not worth the trouble ..just in case...my 2 cents...

Michigan is different than FIB-land. J/K Freek... gotta bust your chops! (For those of you who don't know what a F.I.B. is just ask a Cheesehead or a Yooper - and for those that don't know what a Cheesehead or a Yooper is, I'm sorry.)

Anyways - I don't think that carrying a weapon "automatically" gives people a reason to "hate" you/us. If you carry it properly, no one will even know you have it and there won't be any problems. Now if it's visible then that's another story. A few years ago I got my CCW license here in the Great Lake State so I can carry it pretty much anywhere (of course there are restrictions like schools, churches, bars, arenas/stadiums, etc.). And there was a big stink back when the state made it easier to obtain a license, people were up in arms about all the guns that were going to be carried around. But applicants have to take class and submit finger prints to the FBI so it's pretty thorough and legit. They aren't letting just anyone carry like it's Tombstone!

My opinion is: The people that are carrying guns with bad intentions are gonna pack whether they have a permit or not. So why not give the "good citizen" a way to defend him/herself by letting them fight fire with fire?

CCW laws are a lot like helmet laws... everyone has their point of view on what's "right" and "wrong". But I'm not a lawmaker so I just do what they tell AND allow me to do - like carry a pistol!

I guess I should have lived in Grand Rapids longer to learn the lingo. Cheesehead, I think, is someone from Wisconsin (no offense intended). The rest of it sounds like Charley Brown's teacher talking.

Best point of view on the matter that I have ever heard!! If your a criminal, watch out, cause some standing around you might give you a bad case of lead poisoning if you f**k up.

Three weeks ago..... I should add it was work related, and involved a very angry pitbull belonging to a crackhead. I wish more people carried and gave the criminals something to think about. I refuse to carry on my back in fear of spinal injuries if I go down. If not in a tank bag, I try to carry as close to my armpit as possible... (Springfield sub compact XD .40 )

I will once i obtain a carry permit but until then it's just some knuckles(illegal i know) but they are in a pocket on the inside of the Alpinestars jacket. Thinkin of buying a stun gun and carrying it....

Why illegally cary knuckles when you can legally cary BLING Gloves? Don't they have metal knuckles?

i am an absolute firearm freak. there is even a picture of my modified glock 23 in my photo gallery. if/when i carry while riding, i carry a walther ppk/s. small and somewhat powerful (up close) and many options on where to keep it. i use an underarm shoulder harness or an inside-the-beltline holster on my back. i've even used an ankle holster before.

a question for the members who keep their firearms in the underseat storage: how in the world do you ever plan on getting to it in the rare case that you would need it?

and by the way, i've never pulled it and never felt the need to. i stay in areas where i believe that i will never need it. i started carrying a firearm while riding after being bitten by a rabid loose dog on a backroad on a pedal bike. and i still explore those same roads on my dual sport bike.
