Don't like pigs.....

For my first mod i was thinking of getting a fender eliminator and some flush mounts for the front.  My question is will the cops fuk with me?  I have a couple of buddies that ride and they say when you start changing stuff on the bike the cops start messing with you.  Anyone have any problems and what should I NOT do to my bike so i can lay low from those red and blue lights. Thanks

DO NOT hide your plate, if you do anything that looks like your trying to hide something yes they will pull you over. Most of the time people on bikes get pulled over for breaking the law, i.e. speeding, wheelies, stoppies, squidly things. Ride withing the law and you'll be just fine. I have my plate on my swing arm, front leds signals, and my rear signals in my rear pegs and have never been pulled over.

you can do a fender eliminator, just make sure you're NOT making it look like you're hiding your tag from the cops and they probably wont bother you any. dont give em a reason to pull you over, and they wont.

my plate's been in my trunk for the last 6 years or so and ive never been pulled.

Second, they're called "police officers", not "pigs". I can't stand the ignorance of people using derogatory phrases for the officers that risk their lives protecting you and me. They should be respected, not s**t upon.

I am a cop....and a rider.  And before you get all bent out of shape about "pigs"........we could really care less that your signals are not DOT approved or that you no longer have a reflector at the rear of the bike.  Don't hide your plate......and don't ride like a jacka$$....it is that easy.  the number one thing that gets riders in trouble is if riders go to the same location over and over with loud exhaust pipes (Harley included) or start stunting or speeding and the community gets all bent out of shape.  Because one of them knows the mayor or whatever and then all of the sudden every officer not on a call for service has to go and write as many tickets as possible because he was ordered too.....not because he wants to. 
 
I am not saying there is not a...."by the letter of the law" cop out there that will not pull you over and give you a ticket.  If he does....deal with it.  That is the risk at is run by changing your bike.  But in my experience (even before I was a cop) I have never had a cop pull me over and give me a ticket for any mods I have.  The cops that do not ride don't know and the cops that do ride......thinks they look good.

+1 for firplug.  I'm also a "pig" and take offence to that comment.  If you give me a reason to pull you over then the only person at fault is yourself.  I am the one pushing your foot to the floor or twisting your writst to make you do 30 over???  Did I pour that last beer down your throat to get you arrested??  I THINK NOT.  Make your mods on your bike, but make sure your plate is visible.  When you do get stopped do all you can to pass the attitude test.  For if you fail, you will receive my autograph and you won't like it.

Alright i apologize for refering to cops as pigs.  I am sure you guys are all honest upstanding members of society and go go by the book most of the time.  But from where im from SE michigan aka "The Police State" and especially in the burbs cops do nothing but fuk with you.  I am not saying they all do but from my experiences growing up, I have constantly been harrassed and so have alot of people i know.  Calmed down alot since i got older but I still and probably will always feel the same way about them as I have.  PEACE, LOVE, AND HAIR GREASE! 

I had a badge and a gun  for ten years, Patrolling CaliCoast Hwy 1, and I was jeaulous of every finger-flippin moto-rider I saw. My issues with bikers came up when the beach closed, so bike-mods didn't figure. Basically, anybody with a badge and a gun can do anything they want, and I try to convince them that "These are not the droids you're looking for."

I am a "badge and a gun" in Canada.  I guess it is a lot different here.  There is a little thing called the "Charter of Rights and Freedoms".  This ties our hands some what and we must play nice.  But if you cause yourself to stick out, you will.

yes i know what they do. i was just saying people have the right to say it and it should not offend them. does it make them less of a cop??? no i dont think so. and if some one was in danger i would risk my life to save them also even if i did not know them.

ok do you have a girlfriend? what if i was to just walk up to you two, call her a skanky whore and a bitch and just walked off. Your telling you would just sit there and deal with it because its my right to say it. My word don't make her any less of a girlfriend. I can say all sorts of things but i don't because theirs this little thing i have called morals.

Here is the thing.  The public wants us to act as professionals and the majority of us do.  You the public want us to treat you with respect and dignaty at all times, BUT you feel that since you pay my salary and can have my badge / job that you can speak to me in any way you want.  Well, lest we forget I to pay taxes and thus I pay my own salary.  If you want me to show you any type of respect then please do the same for me.  I will be professional during my initial contact, but if you feel it is your right to degrade me to make yourself feel like a big man, then don't expect me to play nice either.
I highly doubt you would just sit there and laugh it off if some unknown person walked up to you and breated your wife /  girlfriend in front of you.  In todays day and age a fight would break out. 
What I am getting at is just show some respect.  Not just because we are the police, but because we are people also and we are just trying to do a very difficult job.
Yes I will admit I got into the job for the thrill of arresting the bad guy, but it is also to help the people of my community feel safe, including the fine upstanding citizens that call me a "pig".

I spent 4 years in germany and delt with the "politzie" sp? quite a bit. I tell you what.. they are the nicest and most laid back cops I have ever met. The reason? over their they don't have a police btutality law. If you piss them off they will F*** you up. so guess what, everybody treats the cops with respect and cops are...get this.. NICE!! Thats right! They don't aproach you on the defensive like they do here. Can you Imagine 90% of the people you meet on the job calling you a "pig" or worse to your face and getting pissed off when it's usually thier fault anyway? I'd be a d**k to! I even had a cop let me go with a warning for 40 over! thats right 40!! It was at night, I exited the freeway to take advantage of a desolate access road with a few curves and he clocked me @ 81 in a 40. pulled me over, we bullshat for a while and he said cause I got of the crowded freeway I was bieng smart but "just take it easy from now on" complemented me on my bike and left!!!!

Look at the can of worms I opened!!! Can we please focus on the orginal question........disreguard the "pig "comment.  Have a problem? Go read a book, hug a tree, or just go squeeze one out to relieve the pressure.  I'm here to ride not to question my morals.  No matter what there are going to people who like cops and those who don't.  You guys with the badges, do your thing and do what you do because the ones without the badge can't do $hit about it.  Us without the badges, just pull back on that throttle and flip'em the bird! Okay  soooo what I have got so far from tis post is
#1 Don't ride like a jacka$$
#2 Don't hide your plate
AND #3  Don't call cops "pigs"................to their face.

After all the shit is done, the three things you listed are about it.
