Hey there dudes and ladies
Does anyone out there also have the problem of car drivers (in the USA or the rest of the world) tailing you at about 6ft away from your back wheel on the highway?
The car drivers here in South Africa (not all of them) are such dumbasses that even though I have a CBR900RR underneath me, they feel like they have to prove that their VW Golf or BMW can go just as fast as me and they ride right on my back wheel!! Seriously I'll be travelling down the highway at 75mph and then they would be there, I would speed up to 90mph then they would come right back. Ive even gone as 100mph with the a$$hole still tailing me about 6ft away. Changing lanes doesnt stop anything with the people in those lanes doing the same thing. This only happens on freeways, the other roads are fine.
One day I was riding with my girlfriend on the back and this dude actually tried to run me off the road. He came up next to me, and then slowly started coming across in my lane. I hooted and moved a little to the right to avoid being hit, but he continued to come across slowly, bear in mind that i was right next to his drivers window and there were no blind spot issues. This was al happening with his family in the car as well. I kinda snapped in a sense of rage as I was very angry that he might run my girlfriend off the road and she would get seriously hurt and then I banged the side of his car with my fist (yes he was that close to me). His wife must have said something to him and he backed away to his lane. I then sped off and havent seen the a$$hole again.
The cool thing is that my girlfriend saw the whole thing happen as she was on the back and she understood the situation and wasnt mad at me for what I did. I know I never want to do something like that again as the driver of the car could sideswipe me in his rage and that could end up disasterous.
Why do car drivers do this?? It is outright stupid and freaking dangerous!!

I notice that too a lot, if they are behind you, they are on your ass. If they are beside you, they want to race. If they are in front of you, they want to try to take a corner fast in front of you or drive faster than usual. This doesn't include the accidental/on purpose times when they try to run you off the road, which I have had plenty of both as well. A good motto that I have seen on here is "Ride like everyone is trying to kill you." Be safe out there, and good luck with those people on the highway.

I've always wonder how fast you have to be going to hit the mirrors with a force enough to break it, yet not have the force come back at you to knock you off your balance.

My defense- a couple throwing objects in my upper most jacket pocket, reinforced knuckles on my gloves(side mirrors) and the ability to disappear when the disgruntled driver tattles because they were a pussy and tried to harm me. Kinda goes along with "you push me, I push back... Harder".
On the other end of it, I really dislike people with road rage. The best thing to do is probably just go on with you ride like it never happened. Giving the cager a reaction might just be what they want. And look at it this way, throwing something through a windshield or busting off a side mirror is going to really piss them off and make it worse for the next guy on a sport bike. You know that feeling you get when you are presented with a situation and you cant think of what to do? Example; after one dude on a sport bike retaliates to some jackass cager--- the cager will think of what he will do to the next guy on a sport bike that he pisses off "wont be able to knock off my mirror because I'll take his ass out before he can react!" Catch my drift?

I totally agree with you motoxxx43!
I am a carefree and timid dude. The only reason why I lost my cool on that day is that my girls (bike and real one) were in harms way by the idiot and I kinda acted quickly on the situation. I too dont try to aggrivate other drivers, especially the taxi drivers here in S.A as they are notorious for their hooligan driving, as they might actually do something or start a chain of violence to other bikers on the road.

not extremely hard... i was drivin down the ol interstate in my jeep one day when i saw a friend of mine in his company van. i thought it'd be funny to run up next to him and slap his mirror so i did.... then it fell off and it wasn't a 1974 pos van it was a 2 day old van. oops

I spend most of my time looking forward, so I don't notice when people skim in right behind me most of the time. That being said, I've had people behind me saying that people are D-bags and do it all the time.

If someone's on my ass, I usually slow down, very slowly. I mean, if we're doing 70, I let up ever so slowly and eventually we're at 40 maybe. When they realize what's happened after a minute or so, they get pissed and go around me. I just let 'em go and as they pass they almost always lok at me, so I give them the "not happy" head shake. Had a guy come up on me last week (at night) with is headlights off. Stayed on my rear so I did the slow down slowly thing. Right after he passed me I noticed a cop radaring. I said to myself "self, if that cop doesnt pull out and get him I'm gonna be pissed!" Right about then, blue and reds! Dude got pulled over and never turned his lights on, even after spotting the cop behind him.
I was next to a kid texting his mommy or something a few weeks ago. We were both stopped at a light, me in th eleft lane, him in a Prelude w/ windows down. Light turned green and he was still texting. I looked over and said "Hey Skippy, (he looked up) put the damn phone down and drive." He freaked out and took off. It was fun. :)

On kicking a car, make sure you kick w/ your toe, and not your heal.
I will drag my rear brake so the tailight is on, that or tap it a bunch. Drivers hate flashing lights. IF they are really wanting attention, uhmmm.... bearings have been known to fall off my bike before.

when in doubt...always carry a bunch of marbles and fling !!! that'll do the trick.. or you can improvise and throw a bunch of old worn spark plugs..???

At any speed really the mirror just goes flying and your hand barely moves... My best was on the belt parkway in queens, NY.. A cabby was knowinly forcing my friend off the road to get in front, He was so close that i actually jumped cause i thought he hit her, so i came up on his right (about 15mph) layed down the left hook and the mirror went about 15-20 ft in the air and came crashing and sliding down in front of him.. I hit him with the evil biker stare and he moved over and let us by
another was when traveling on the same parkway a lady in a minivan with 3 kids in it moved over in front of me and a friend a slammed on her breaks, then looked up and smiled as she waved to us in her rear view mirror..She lost her drivers side mirror for it..
