exhaust clamp

I just received a used exhaust but there's no clamp that holds it onto the passenger pegs. I called around the local shops and I had one guy tell me to just go to a hardware store and get a large clamp and put it on. Does this sound like a normal and cost effective alternative? I guess I don't care that much about having the "stock" clamp as long as it holds the pipe on. Thanks!

Yep, get a strip of aluminum and a strip of rubber, BAM! new exhaust mount.
