I just picked up a akrapovic slip on for my 04 1000 and was wondering if i should take off the part that the 2 cables go to from the exhaust?or just keep it on the bike. The cables operate the flapper in the stock pipe, also is it ok to not use the heat sheilds?the pipe is titanium.

for the 1000rr the cables have to come off to put a new pipe on
just unhook them from the servo. on the 04 it is by near the engine on the left side if i remember correctly. just trace the cables back. if you leave them on they can hang up and mess up the servo throwing a MIL light. you have to leave the servo on though or you will definetly get a MIL light

take off the oem heat shield.  you can either leave it bare or if you are really worried about heat go get some heat barrier tape from the local autozone

god dude this question has been asked so many time
you are the second this week in fact

there are almost no new questions on this bike search ok

but to answer
take em off

you can put heat tape under the tail and most people do but the shield on the right by the leg isnt necessary
