I havent seen this talked about in awhile so I guess I`ll ask again... Has anyone found out performance effects after disconnecting the stock exhaust valve cables so it stays open all the time ? I did the flapper mod the second day I had the bike but wonder if anything can be gained at the exhaust valve before the PCIII gets wired.

The exhaust valve is Purely to get the bike past emissions and noise tests at 5k rpm. Rip it out and throw it away, well the cables. Mine ran alot better without its use. If your getting a pc3 try the Dan kyle map for a stock bike see what you think, its in the new map section.

i do know that disconnecting that flows the air more freely and you'll run boggy at lower RPM's, so im with the other guys, get a pc3 and load a new map

What does run boggy actually means?I have the same question regarding the valve

The cables have been on the garage floor for a couple of days now and I havent noticed any ill effects, like bogging (Anafranil; lack of low end power due to less backpressure in the exhaust) any more than it did with the valve connected. My bike has always been an @$$hole in stop and go traffic. Anything under 10 mph causes a very sore left hand. Its time for that sprocket change......

Thanks I've been very affraid of this boggy phenomenon,I was just not aware of the term.
I hope mine doesn't boggy, waggy or anything ending in ..gy when I install the yoshi full system tomorrow

Much better with the full system, mine was better with just the can. Get a pc3 and get it setup on a Dyno for best results it transforms your bike.

Another question:

I have the stock exhaust still fitted and am thinking of disabling the exhuats valve without removing the cables entirely.

FOr those who have simply disconnected them at the valve leaving them in place at the solenoid is there a risk of them working loose at the solenoid or are they firmly fixed?

It looks as if the tension on the cables is maintained at the exhaust valve cos of the butterfly valve return spring. I am concerned that if I simply remove the cables at the exhaust valve that they will work thier way loose at the solenoid and possibly get tangled causing problems or FI warnings.

Anybody had any issues with this?

thanks

Take them all the way out Rog, the cables will get caught up. If you disconect them at the valve end the servo still works so you`ll have the cables moving to and fro under your tank.

If your gonna disconnect the cables anyway do it at both ends its dead easy. One thing you do need to know though is:

Mark the servo position before you start any work so you can return it to its original starting position or you`ll get the F1 light come on.

The cables are just like bicycle brake cables with the little thing on the end, you may need to raise your tank so you can see to get them out but it`s literally 10 mins mate.

Take ya seat off,
Undo the bolts at the base of the tank cover,
undo the bolts on the covers at the front of the tank cover and remove,
undo the 2 bolts on the tank cover itself at the front,
lift it off,
theres a bolt either side midway on the tank, if you undo these then the petrol tank can be hinged backwards so you can see where your fiddlin to remove the cables.

i heard to remove the exhaust valve welding is involved and you should just buy the full system. by removing the cables are you sure that the valve is stuck open?

if you could provide detailed instructions in removal that would be great. !!

yep, i`m sure.. i`ve done it to my UK bike, as far as any other countries spec i couldn`t say for definate but i`d say yeah the valves the same and is open as standard with the engine off.

OK Anubis, so I read this too late. Fitted the full Arata Ti syatem last night and completely removed the lot including the servo and now have the Fi light permanetly on. Replaced the servo but no good, light still on. Now I did not mark the servo position but can't seem to adjust it because whenever I power up it returns to the same position from which it can't be manipulated. Any ideas??

Put the servo back on!!!! Just disconnect the cables. It'd be nice if there was a plug in that'd make the bike still think the servo's there but so far I haven't seen one.

So to reiterate -- don't take the servo out -- you'll get an FI light. Just remove the cables and everything will be fine

Thanks chainstretcher, I have done that but the light stays on. Anubis was indicating that the position of the servo needed to be marked and returned to same position. This I did not do. Tried changing the servo position but it always returns to the same position when I power up.

Try moving the servo when the bike is turned off. You will have to play with it in order to find the original setting.

Yep, I tried that, moved it slightly in each direction but everytime I turn on the ignition, it snaps back to the position I started from

does anyone have complete instructions on how to remove the whole thing....i was told by a mech. that removeal of the exhaust valve would require welding?? is this true.

Thats way too much work to disable the exhaust valve. Just pull out the cables dude...... I went a step further while reworking my stock can and took the valve "door" out of the inside of the pipe when I had it off. Two small bolts and it was gone.
