Anyone had any problems with using exhaust wrap? I've heard good and bad, but have yet to see any solid evidence for the bad side......

The bad side being excess corrosion? I guess it would depend on the application. My vette had certain parts of the headers and exhaust pipes wrapped with no problems, but it never sees rain. On a bike you'd get them wet when you wash it and during rain, so without a doubt it may cause some corrosion issues, but maybe not that bad.

The biggest problem is corrosion, unless you have TI pipes, or you can use a high temp silicone spray to seal your wraps from the elements and oil and any other debris. I have my pipes wrapped and the silicone spray is excellent just be sure to cover anything you don't want covered in the stuff.

I have been wraping for a while now, no problems, other than discoloring them
but there are some angry anti-wrappers sure to show up soon enough
to tell you how evil it is

You could always spend $100-$200 and have the pipes ceramic coated. Then there are no corrosion worries and you will cut the heat better than the wrap.

I agree 100%.
Plus if you have the insides of the pipes done(which most shops do).This also helps exhaust flow and is the KEY to keeping the heat in..Plus stops moisture in the exhaust from rusting the pipes.
Plus with wraps if you spill oil on them ,it will soak right in.Coatings the oil can be sprayed right off.

I don't know what it is like to change oil on an RR but on an F3, the oil drains right onto the header. My guess is you would have to be really careful of keeping the oil off the header when changing oil.

now thats a solid idea!
i am sure however that with the proper amount of scotch guard wrapping should be corrosion free and rather effective...

actually wrapping will let the moisture stay in the insides of the pipe and eat them from the inside out..

My plan was to only wrap the mid-pipe, for look purposes. Just wondered what everyone's opinion was, thanks!

If you are only doing it for looks,dont waste the money..Its not worth it.
