F4i clutch cover install- release arm binding

I'm finishing up installing a Factory Pro shift kit (thanks thirdgenlxi for the tutorial!) and it went pretty smooth until now. I can slide the clutch cover on, the release arm seems to catch the lifter piece OK and the arm moves freely, but as soon as I start to torque the cover bolts down the release arm binds up. Any ideas? Maybe the lack of engine oil is making the plates stick? Thanks.
