Hey guys, I am wanting/planning to buy and put a pair of frame sliders on my CBR, but the guy at the dealer only had the ones where he had to drill through my preetty fairings. I go nuts as is over a scratch on the tank due to my zipper rubs, but i dont think i can handle two gapping wholes on the side of my plastics. Are their alternatives for this? I think i seen some r6's with 4 sliders attached without compromising their plastics. suggestions?

Fom what ive heard the only way to put frame sliders on the 600 RR, becuase of its shape and plastic location, is to drill the plastics. BUT! The 1000 RR was previously the same way, untill just recently I heard they have a kit that goes around the plastics somehow. Now... as you can tell, im definately not the expert on this, but there are a few people on here that DO know what is going on in the world of frame sliders. I hope they post for your sake :P
take it easy, good luck,
Chris

It is true that the CBR1000RR has a kit available for "no-cut" sliders, the 600RR unfortunately is not so lucky, it must be cut for sliders to work due to the location needed for the sliders

Hey bro,
I had to take da hit and drill some holes in my fairings (look under "usndoc pix" in da 600rr forum to see how it looks) to install some Vortex frame sliders. It sux I know, but at da time I had ta do it. I can tell ya how to do it if ya want BUT... I heard of some sort of frame sliders for da 1000's and I think they're called "shoguns"??? I beleive day be honda specific as well, but jus ta da 1000's. Hope it helps ya out bro. If ya need sum help holls at me and I'll hook you up wid sum knowledge.

hey man if you get upset over a scratch then drilling a hole for frame sliders is better than laying your sh*t down and having to pay out the @ss for new fairings! drill the holes, it will be worth it and its not like they look bad

Im trippin over the hole because fairings are extremely expensive and if there IS a way around further damagin them then why not go for it. besides, since drilling a hole is pretty much a trial and error thing it is hard to get them to look right. I have friends come out with crookedness and cracks due to improper installation from cert. honda mechs. but point taken on the whole reason for sliders. thanks for the inputs and i'll give the brands stated a look.

Here's some frame sliders on ebay that I bought for mine.it comes with an alignment tool to mark your hole and they're made of delrin so they'll grind away in a slide and not hang on the road and cause it to flip. They got to my house in two days.Just remember to tape the fairing with masking tape before you drill so the paint doesn't crack or chip.Hope that helps.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4536707404&category=35580

Whats up peeps, i i bought a 04 cbr600rr a while back and was wondering what all does the frame sliders protect, obviously the frame its self, but i have heard that it will not protect all of the plastic. is this true. what kind of sliders could i instal to prtect the frame and plastics? hola back, jake from iraq. "damn, can't wait to get back to the staes and do some riding".

Hey all new reader here. I have been kicking this idea around for awhile and what I have come up with since I have full coverage on the bike it dont matter if I drop it or drill it if I ever wanted to make it OE again still the plastic would have to be replaced. And my luck as it is as soon as I install them someone will come out with sliders that you dont have to drill. I guess I will just take my chances

This is going to be a winter project for me so I take my time and do it right. If I tried it now I know I would rush and jack everything up.

Hey, sirlimpzalot, you need to have a gap between the sliders and the fairing. Otherwise if you go down the sliders will bend or flex pushing into the fairing and causing it to crack or break. I was told this by someone who has been preping bikes for racing for many years. Here's some pics of the way mine are.

I cut the frame slider holes myself. I used a hole saw. I took the fairing out and took out the stock bolt and screwed in the frame slider bolt only. I didn't screw it in all the way...i took out the foam lining where the slider would go and put on clay. I put the fairing back on and let the bolt put an indention where the clay is. i drilled a small hole...and then put masking tape on the outside of the frame and drilled from there...it came out perfect..granted it was my first time...but it's fairly easy to do...just have some balls to do it..lol
