FRAME SLIDERS

Ok, OK, I know this topic HAS been covered, but how many people have done them themselves and how did they turn out? And what method did you use? I am going to be installing mine next week. I just want to make SURE it turns out CLEAN. I'm VERY ...."anal" when it comes to the looks of everything. I still have the dang factory fender just because I haven't found the "perfect" eleminator kit yet!!! Thanks for the help in advance!!!!!!!!

I did mine myself and I am a total mechanic newbie. I used the tool (search around and you will find the link to it). I love the way they look.

I have Intuitive sliders and the tutorial at their site worked flawless. I am also anal about how everything looks, and I couldn't be happier how they turned out. Everthing lined up and fit like a glove, no modifying or adjusting when I was done. Here is the tutorial I followed Click Me

The way I've found that works the best, will only cost you about $10 extra.. Get one of those laser pointer, cat toys.. Mount it securely on a stool, or camera tripod and point it at the bolt where the frame slider will be installed. Then reinstall the fairing on that side, use all the screws too. The laser will be pointing EXACTLY where you have to drill with the holesaw.. and you can even drill it on the bike

I recommend getting the laser as close to the height and angle of the bolt as possible. Put the bike on a rear stand if possible, and dont let it move either.

I've done about 20 sets this way, and the hole is as close to perfect as you can get..

Also, to really clean it up, after the slider and fairings are installed, I get a couple of big o-rings and slide them over the slider up to the fairing, really cleans up the whole installation.. furniture grommets are another way to clean the hole up more..

Dont they have offset sliders? that way you don't have to cut.

I just received my sliders, plan on installing when I have the time. The instruction link looks very helpful from intuitive, I will follow them. Lucky for me I have a damaged fairing to practice on.

i did my sliders myself. put some masking tape on the paint side to help protect the paint. pretty simple. REMEMBER measure twice, cut once!

Can someone point out the exact location where the frame sliders are placed on the engine mounts on a F4i?

on the left side of the bike, where the "i" sticker is (granted you still have your stickers on) is where the slider will poke through the fairing, right where the "i" is dotted. you follow me?. there is an engine mount bolt directly behind that spot on the fairing. its on the same spot on the other side of the bike, although the stickers don't line up the same on the right side. hope that helps.

these are good info. will be installing my soon. dealer was going to charge me $275 for labor and the cheapest place i found was $165 for labor only.....

how about on a 95 cbr f3 where is the best place to moun them, i dont have any paint or stikers on the bike but i wan tthe holes cut and the sliders in place befor i go and get paint. thanks
