front brake

i was having trouble with my front brakes they wobbled when i applied them, i took it to the dealer and he said both my rotors were warped, they wanted $600 for parts and labor. does anyone know where to buy cheaper rotors and pads? and also i know it's dangerous not to fix them but can they really lock up if the rotors are warped? help

They still work fine just the harder you brake the more judder you`ll get through the bars. $600 is mighty expensive to supply the discs(Rotors) and undo/retighten a few bolts. Do it your self, Try ron ayers.com for a quote on the Discs (Rotors)

yea mang...that is so bling to put on 2 pieces of metal and change them pads...you can get it WAY CHEAPER even with wave rotos and crap mang!

I would get new aftermarket rotors, they are going to be cheaper then stock.

Hi, I had a similar problem on my previous machine and it turned out to be warped braking disks. As you have discovered the disks can be expensive to replace so I sought advice on other cheaper options to resolve the problem, the 1st option was to buy new disks the 2nd was to have the warped disks put on a lathe and then turned until they are flat the other was to find a donor bike and purchase the pre owned disks at a discounted price.
For the record I brought new ones, as a further note I was able to determine the disks were warped by running a straight edge/metal rule across the surface of the disk and a gap emerged, the warping was caused by a brake calliper piston being seized in the on/extended position and this caused the disk to heat up excessively and warp the disk.

I agree with buying after market ones and doing it yourself... $600 ... f***in a-holes. How do they get off charging prices like that?

I think what they were trying to say was... since your rotor/s is/are warped, you can accidentally lock up the front wheel. If you apply the brakes hard and hit a little debris on the road... you're going to have a pulsing brake that crabs harder in certain spots. So you might break traction and lay it down.

Nah you` have to be a major retard for that to happen to ya.
