I replaced the front brake pads and now I can hear them sing as I'm going down the highway.  It sounds as if they are ever-so-slightly touching the discs. I've swapped the pads around and even bought another set of pads just to make sure I didn't get a bad one.  Anyone else experience this when they replaced their pads?  The pads are EBC HH sintered.

Are your rotors warped a little?

I've only been through the original set of pads and didn't hear this noise until I replaced them.  I don't feel any problems with the brakes when using them and if it weren't for the slight noise they make, I'd never suspect anything was wrong.

Unless it's making a lot of noise I wouldn't worry about it. The pads are supposed to slightly rub under normal conditions anyway. I can hear mine when I push the bike into the garage with the engine off.

the dealer replaced the front brakes a month ago with ebc, I hear them too now and when I roll the bike in the garage I hear it as well. I especially hear a whizzing/buzzing noise when I engage the break over like 30mph..But they are working good. Everyone said its normal

I tried lifting the front wheel and seeing if it spins freely by hand.  The wheel does not spin without effort and it comes to an immediate stop as soon as you let go of the wheel.   The rear wheel spins freely.

I could put some on the pads too :)
I'll lube the pins and see how it goes.
Thanks.

i've had almost the same problem.  when i push the bike without the engine running i hear alot of brake pad rubbing noise and when it's on the stands the front wheel doesn't seem to turn as freely as it should.  i just looked at my caliper slide bolts and they were very very dry and a little dirty so a little lube and they should be fine.

i had the same problem, i was told that they are floating rotors on the 1000rr and it will do that on all of them.

Floating rotors is normal for sounds.

What I'm curious about is that fact that my F3 has a consistent, "woosh" sound.  Like it's not sporadic or random, it mkaes the noise whenever the bike is moving and it is consistent with the speed of the bike.  I'm almost certain it could be a warped rotor.

Everytime I've changed pads in the past, you'll hear noises for about 30 miles and it's normal as they're seating on the rotor.  However this isn't that sound.

So here's my quesiton, how does a rotor become warped?  Uneven wear in pads?  Heat?  Changing each side at different intervals?

Is there a way I can test it or is it going to be such a precise measurement to find any warping?  I have a caliper and a surface to test it, but I'm not sure what else I might need.

Thanks for any input.

the slightest warp will make them rub and you wont be able to tell with out a machine that has a michrometer. it will spin in one place and the mich. will show you where its warped at.
