Hi. My name is Austin. I'm 31, married and I live in Manitowoc, WI. I just purchased a 2008 CBR600RR (Orange) today
I've been riding motorcycles all my life. I had a little 50cc minibike that I rode when I was just able to ride on two wheels.
Previous bikes:
1987 Yamaha 500 (enduro)
1980 Honda CB900 Custom
1988 Honda Shadow 800
2006 Suzuki Katana 600
I actually traded the Katana in on the CBR today. I purchased the Karana new as an intro bike for my first sport bike. I've been shopping for a new sport bike for a month or so.
I've test ridden a few bikes during my search:
2008 Yamaha R6. Meh.. Not my favorite bike feel-wise.
2007 1300 Hayabusa. No thank you, I like living too much to own one of these
2007 GSXR1000. I felt this bike was a bit much for me on the street (I decided agasint trying the CBR1000RR for the same reason)
Honda CBR600RR. This bike fit my frame well (5'7 200lbs) It gave me the best control and comfort.
I've been eyeing the CBR600RR and after extensive research came to choose this bike. I'm very excited to get it and be a part of the Honda CBR community.
I'll post a pic or two when I get it home tomorrow. but ya'll know what the orange ones look like.

Welcome to the family Austin. I live in Shawano. There are quite a few of us here from the frozen tundra. Hope you stick around.

There is essentially no comparison between the Kat and the CBR. Its like going from a Geo Metro to a Vette.
I'm super excited to be riding the CBR!
thanks for the welcome :)

..... hey i heard about this girl who bought a 2004 gixxer after owning the 600 kat and as soon as hit the throttle, wooop ...she looped and the bike went flying one way straight up and she the other way.. she was slightly hurt..the bike which was brand new..was messed up..
I guess she could crack the throttle thinking she was on the Kat...???

thanks, I saw the Dells gathering, but I think a 3 hr one way trip on a 0 mile bike isnt such a great idea. This bike is going to be totally different than my Kat and I need to get used to it before I brave the interstate.
I look forward to other future gatherings however :)
